'You've got to come back…it's very serious': John McCain reveals the moment he found out he had brain cancer after asking doctors to 'tell it to me straight'
McCain discussed his cancer diagnosis for Sunday's episode of 60 Minutes He was driving home from a routine checkup when doctor called him urgently Arizona Republican has an aggressive form of brain cancer that is usually fatal McCain has spoken out about the moment he learned he had a rare and aggressive from of brain cancer after a routine doctor's appointment.
The Republican senator from Arizona spoke candidly about the grim diagnosis in an interview with Lesley Stahl from 60 Minutes, for a new episode set to air on Sunday night.
McCain said he was leaving the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix after a routine checkup when he got an urgent call from his doctor.
'You've got to come back,' he recalls the doctor saying. 'Hey, today is Friday. I'll just come in on Monday.'
But the doctor persisted, telling him: 'No, you have to come now. It's very serious.'
The doctors had discovered a blood clot above McCain's left eye. 'They thought it was serious enough that they had to act immediately,' he said.
Before the operation to remove the clot, the doctors mentioned glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer that is nearly always fatal.
But McCain said that the doctors hedged, trying to downplay concerns until tests confirmed the diagnosis.
'Tell it to me straight... I said, "I can take it. Just tell me." And - and then they were more forthcoming,' McCain said. Lab tests confirmed the diagnosis days later.
'They said that the prognosis is very, very serious. Some say 3 percent, some say 14 percent. You know, it's-- it's a very poor prognosis,' recalled McCain.

Others with the same problem in this nation are having a hard theme getting and keeping medical care.
Obamacare keeps coming up before him, to be improved upon, and he refuses to support change.

I firmly believe that McCain is full of crap...my neighbor in PA. had this same type of cancer, went through chemo and all...and I have had chemo, you do not get on a plane the next day and head to Italy...as McCain did, nor do you walk around like nothing is wrong, oh and by the way, my neighbor died 6 months after being told she had this type of brain cancer...
I think McCain is lying, and maybe he had some kind of ‘sun skin cancer’ but this serious of brain cancer, I call B.S.!!!

I will pray for his Salvation but NOT for healing of brain cancer. His brain has always been sick. When in service he should have been court marshaled numerous times, but skated because of bras father/grandfathers !!!
The brain cancer diagnosis was reported by the Mayo clinic, I doubt that it would put out false information.

What a clown. There isn’t a doctor in the world who would soft pedal the delivery of a brain cancer diagnosis.
If McCain actually said that, I guarantee you the docs laughed about how “tough” he was.
