ABC is developing a comedy about an undocumented family with “New Girl” writer and co-executive producer David Feeney, Variety has learned.
Titled “Sanctuary Family,” the single camera comedy would follow a hard-bitten husband and empathetic wife who butt heads over the chaos created when they provide sanctuary for their undocumented nanny and her family.
This is the latest project about immigration to go into development at the broadcast networks in recent weeks. Gina Rodriguez has set up Latino-led series at CBS and The CW. At CBS, drama “Have Mercy” centers around a Latina doctor who is unable to practice when she immigrates to Miami.
Meanwhile, Fox is developing “In the Country We Love,” based on the memoir of the same name by “Orange Is the New Black” star Diane Guerrero. That project was set up at CBS last year, with Guerrero attached to star as an attorney who begins defending undocumented immigrants for free.

I love Zoey Deschanel, but the writing for New Girl is so horrific I can’t bear to watch it. Which means Sanctuary Family will be a smash hit, if laugh tracks are any indication.
If there’s one thing people enjoy less than politicized award shows is politicized TV shows and movies. They usually flop.
It will probably fail, then go on to cable. After that, it will win a ‘ton’ of awards and high praise from the media.
This may become a new substitute for Lena Dunham’s finally cancelled show. “The way life should be!!”

Yep. Yet another show that, under the guise of entertainment or comedy , is trying to persuade us to be liberal towards some social/political issue.
I hope this is a very short series. Episode Three, when the ratings have proven they are not going to take off, I want ICE to deport the criminals, and I want the police/FBI to arrest the family that is conspiring to violate federal law. I am not a fan of criminals, of those who harbor criminals, of those who take advantage of illegal workers by paying them far less than hiring an American would cost, or of those who celebrate criminal behavior.
