I understand that the people in North Korea are suffering greatly, but I'm torn on this. On one hand, do you help the suffering people? On the other, do you help prop up a failed, brutal regime? It's not money, so that's good. Money would get taken by the government. However, who will oversee the distribution of these products and will they make it to the intended recipients? In a book I read about North Korea, they talked about rice sent by the United States government. It was not distributed properly by the government, and some, in fact, made it to black markets where it was being sold to hungry people. If North Korea is the success that they claim to be, they would not need aid from the South. The people of North Korea will never know these things were sent by the South - they will think they were provided by their government, so they won't feel grateful and feel open to the South because they won't know. In the end, I doubt this kind gesture alters in any way Kim's ambitions.

Remove all US troops from S Korea NOW. The Liberals have taken over S Korea. They are effectively undermining sanctions and hard line Diplomacy with North Korea. If North Koreans are so desperate, the citizens of the country will fight for their existence. This is a slap in the face to Trump. We’ll do what we need to do to ensure N Korea cannot and does not attack us or Japan and to a reasonable extent S Korea, but you protect your own damn border. Heck we don’t even protect our own

Yes. As well, I'm willing to bet that a good portion of that donation likely gets siphoned off by Kim for his military. It isn't like someone from SK is there to monitor and verify that all of the food makes it way to the people of NK.

Is South Korea retarded?

Evacuate Seoul and lets get this over with now, or many more millions die later.

It’s the only option left at this point.

Because no matter what we do to Kim artillery is gonna be fired on Seoul. Lots of it. If we kill him, if we oust him, the outcome will be the same.

The South Koreans should starve the beast. Pain now, long periods of bliss later. Anyway, most of these materials, if not all, will go to the NORK military.

Send in a special ops team with one of those suitcase nukes and detonate it when they go to “test” one of their weapons. Kim will be present, and claim their weapon malfunctioned while he was observing it with the scientists. The public will believe it around the world.

Send South Korea a recap and final disposition AFTER East Germany ‘married’ West Germany.

Of course, it did give Germany the ‘excuse’ it needed to ‘push’ for the EU..(My take on it—in a sense, Germany succeeded where 2 WW’s didn’t quite make the grade)

Maybe South Korea thinks if they merge with North Korea they will be able to pay back Japan for all the years Japan ‘enslaved’ the Korean Peninsula.

This makes no sense to me. The Norks stand ready to slaughter South Korean civilians by the bushel. They would enslave the South if they had half the chance. If people are starving in NK, it is the direct fault of the Kim regime. This is might be well-intentioned insanity, but it is still insanity.

"We have consistently said we would pursue humanitarian aid for North Korea in consideration of the poor conditions children and pregnant women are in there, apart from political issues," said Cho in opening remarks at the meeting...

I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I don't think it's EVER a good idea to let children starve or go without medical care, no matter how much you hate their government. I suspect that, even though the country is divided, Koreans in the South still regard those poor souls in the North as their fellow Koreans, especially long separated families and relatives.

One way to look at it is our own Civil War. Supposed that war would have ended up a protracted stalemate as exists in Korea. And, like Korea, suppose one side fell into economic ruin and children and pregnant women were suffering. Do you think we would not have sympathy for those of our fellow countrymen, at least for their children, to provide what basic nutrition and medicine we could, even though politically we were in a state of enmity? I guarantee you we would.

So Fatboi gets what he wanted by firing missiles. 8 million to continue playing with nukes. Brilliant. Guess we’ll be throwing him a billion soon for “humanitarian aid” as well. It looks like rewarding bad behavior to me.

Here's a tough one, too. Would you want to be involved in floating bibles to North Korea knowing that the people who are found with them are executed? The NORKS even lie in ambush for the unsuspecting souls to come along and pick them up.

======================================================

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gota love this retaliation by the NORKS for this. It reminds me of what the left wing garbage would do in this country.

The people of North Korea are thoroughly brainwashed from birth with information exclusively from their despotic and cruel dictator. The South is trying one of the very few ways to get through to some of them before landing among them.

I agree.
It's a VERY BAD MOVE.
Never give a bully what he wants.
All this "aid" will go to their military, and no one else, just like it has ... every time it was done before !
Destroy North Korea, and clean up the survivors AFTER you defeat their communist leaders and military !
That's the ONLY WAY to help their people !

Let them starve and maybe then one of the men around “Rocket Man” will have the cajones to take him out.

There is absolutely nothing to be "torn" about. NK's people are starving and dying because the Stalinist, communist NK government is INTENTIONALLY STARVING ITS OWN PEOPLE and has been doing so for decades in order to keep their entire population (except for portions of the ruling class and the military), subserviant, weak, docile, controlled and absolutely, totally dependent upon the utterly crule "benevolence" of the NK government and its false dictator god-king.

North Korea has had, and currently has enough financial resources to feed its entire population. But the insane, nefaroious, mad midget Rocket Man running the country and all of his predecessors have CHOSEN too allocate and use those resources to fund NK's military and never ending, ever increasing weapons development programs specifically designed to threaten and kill their neighbors and America.

The overwhelming majority of ALL of the foreign aid and food that has been foolishly given NK in the past has nearly all gone to feed and prop up NK's military personnel. Very little, if any goes to the people and what does is presented to its brain washed population as a "gift" coming directly from their false god-king.

From infancy the population is taught to hate and kill. Rocket Man will never stop in his mad rush to build a nuclear arsenal and ICBM's capable of killing his neighbors America, you and your family, NEVER! The man is a rabid, ruthless, mad dog and the only solution is to "put him down".

Those have been and are the facts concerning the hermit kingdom of North Korea and Rocket Man. Not one penny of aid, not one grain of rice should be donated or given to NK until Fat boy Rocket Man (along with the entire Kim dynesty) is killed or permanently removed from power, NK gives up and destroys its ENTIRE nuclear weapons program, its population is freed, its gulags are emptied and its offensive military is totally dismantled and a small military is created and restructured and restricted to and for defensive purposes only as in Japan.

Until the above takes place, every penny, every grain of rice donated is used by NK to keep this detestable regime in power, enslave its own population and seek to threaten and destroy free South Korea, its neighbors and America. Therefore it is the height of insanity to give ANYTHING to North Korea, its insane leader or his country which wants to kill and destroy us.

Stupid, pacifist, Left-influenced, China-influenced head of South Korea.

They have no assurance that the “humanitarian aid” will go to humanitarian purposes. It will not go to those barely living and dying in the gulag of political prisoner & forced labor camps or anyone else in true need. Most of it will wind up feeding the underfed rank and file soldiers.
