Black Women Carrying Guns in Chicago, Part of National Trend

Black Women Buy Guns Nationwide

A recent article in the Chicago Tribune detailed the experiences of a black woman who obtained a concealed carry permit in Chicago. The article is surprisingly positive about her experiences. An important point is that minority women make up a significant percentage of the growth in concealed carry permits nationwide. From chicagotribune.com:

Robinzine, 51, is a gun owner with a concealed carry license. Since she received her permit in late spring, she carries her firearm wherever she goes. “It's like a part of me now,” Robinzine said with the smile.

Data show Robinzine is part of a burgeoning group in Cook County: black women obtaining concealed carry permits. Since Illinois began issuing licenses in 2014, the number of African-American women receiving a permit in Cook County has grown every year.

About 800 black women got a license in 2014, according to Illinois State Police. So far in 2017, nearly 1,400 black women have received a concealed carry permit — already more than all of 2016. In all, more than 4,000 black women have received a concealed carry license in Cook County.

4,000 black women with permits to carry guns for self-defense may not seem like a lot in Cook County, Illinois. The County, dominated by Chicago, has a population of 5.2 million. That is less than one legally armed black woman on the streets for each thousand residents.

Illinois was the last state to allow for legal concealed carry of handguns, in 2014. Chicago fought against the exercise of Second Amendment rights and continues to do so. It took two Supreme Court decisions (Heller and McDonald) and a Seventh Circuit decision to force the Illinois Legislature to pass the law.

Good for them. It’s racist to disallow black women to defend themselves in a city like Chicago.

I’m not entirely sure how this will work out.

It’s awfully hard for some Black women to admit when they are wrong.

Look at that lady that was angry a member of the military brought his service dog in the other day.

If she had been armed, who knows?

It will work out fine. Glad to see that they are getting involved with their own safety.

If the person is a Conservative of a sound mind yes.

I’m sorry, but I run into the loud mouthed entitled ones far too much to buy into this wholesale.

In some areas it may work out great. In others, the Left will create a self fulfilling prophecy.

Is this a case of going to a restaurant that allows service dogs to be with their owners, and it turns into a police shoot-out?

If they're law abiding and sane I see no problem with this at all.In fact women such as that who carry might make their neighborhoods *safer*.It's a well established fact that most of the violent and disturbing crimes are committed in minority neighborhoods against minority victims.

Sterilization in inner cites would help as well.

Good.

I do not fear the citizen who puts their life and livelihood on the line every time they decide to draw their firearm. I do not fear them because they have much to lose.

I do fear the criminal and the agent of the state. The criminal has already decided that the risk is small enough and the potential reward is enough to risk their life. The agent of the state has the protection and shield of the state to protect them from most loss.

Minority women are starting to realize that the government is never going solve the problem of violence in their communities. Gun ownership will give them more reasons to see the fallacy of trusting the government to help them and more reason to believe in self reliance.

:)

I have a friend who designs, makes and sells simply amazing purses. She has orders stacked up for WEEKS for her CC Purse. I’d pimp it here, but she’s busy enough as it is!

Wisconsin just passed some legislation (or is trying to) to allow people to CC WITHOUT a permit...I gotta go look into that one...knowing the Socialist newspapers around here, it could just be the gun-grabbers spouting off...
