Establishment Dark Money Swamps Alabama Senate Election
Breitbart Big Government ^ | September 19, 2017 | John Carney

"A tsunami of Republican Establishment funding and dark money political contributions is hitting Alabama in support of Luther Strange’s high-stakes contest against Roy Moore for the Senate seat once held by Jeff Sessions....

..Strange has raised at least $3.2 million dollars in this election cycle, nearly double the average for a Senate candidate, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. He finished second in last month’s primary against first-place winner Moore, the former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court. Most of that has come from large contributors, with less than one percent raised from small individual donors. Political action committees have donated nealy a million dollars.

Moore has raised just $459,807, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. More than a third of that came from small contributions and none from political action committees....

...Outside money has poured into the race, which has become a critical battleground for the Republican establishment’s fight against conservative populism and economic nationalism.million dollars on behalf of Strange, as has the National Rifle Association.... Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell and his allies have pushed big-money Republican donors to support Strange....."

The RINO establishment fears that a Roy Moore victory will encourage other primary challenges to Establishment Republicans and thus endanger RINO rule of the Republican caucus.

This type of election shows why campaign finance reform is unnecessary. Money is to winning elections what power is to attaining the speed of light. The more you spend, the less value each subsequent dollar brings to the table.

Fact is, once you have enough to effectively get your message out there, spending more than that can actually have a negative perception effect. And we’ve recently seen that happen. The big spender lost in a couple of statewide elections.

I like to ask this question: If he were alive and free today, how much money would it take to get Hitler elected head of Israel? Think of that as actually attaining the speed of light. :)

You post this like it’s a bad thing or something. The Establishment knows best what we need. We should let it make the decisions for us.

GOP elected the Democrat in the DE senate race when they campaigned against Christine O’Donnell.

They’ll do it again to stop conservatives.

I never thought I’d see the day, but the (official) Republican Party is now every bit my enemy as the Democratic Party.

This is a monumental election. I believe that it is critical for building the support Trump needs to implement his agenda. Roy Moore is putting the fear of God into the black hearts of the Establishment which is why they’re going all out.

If Roy Moore prevails in the runoff, as I suspect he will, 2018 will vie with 2016 as best election ever. Actually, 2018 would be a further significant step in the current American Revolution that swept Trump into office.

Social media and the internet have made money far less important than in the past.

The bastards will spend what ever they have to to make sure Moore never makes it into the senate.

How much money did Hillary and the democrats spend vice Trump and the Republicans?

This is Alabama, probably the most conservative state in the country.* Moore will win.

You just need to check on the year the person joined. If it’s more than a few weeks ago it was sarcasm LOL. Jim wouldn’t let anyone with that view last longer than a few weeks.

The dark money is deja vu of the Handel / Ossoff special election race which Karen Handel won.
Republican Karen Handel Defeats Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia Special Election

I hope that Judge Moore wins this one.
