Absolutely nothing wrong with child labour as long as its not forced. Many of us had paper routes and mowed lawns. I picked vegetables in July and August, apples in September and October, shovelled snow in the winter. Anything to make some spending money.
That just kills me, Dear Lord Liberals are nuts. A friend and I had our own lawn mowing business at that age with an old fashioned push mower and hand edger. "Occupational safety" indeed!
Mowed hay fields at age 10. Also lawns for spending money.
So did a lot of my friends. No one sited us for child labor or permits. Those were the good old days!
One of many features of modern society is that there are no longer neighborhood kids to mow lawns. As an octogenarian I still mow my ample yard, but if there was a neighborhood kid wanting the job I would give it to him/her in a heartbeat. When I mention this in public settings, old times agree with me, moderns say they worry about liability and on and on. Crazy.
