"The US would also defend Mexico."

Oh the irony... Mexico has never been an ally of the U.S.... I find the idea that we would defend Mexico....unsettling.

I doubt China could embark upon an invasion of North America... nor any attack on the Anglo’s would be permitted. He is probably borne of some distant relative of the French Surrender Monkey or Bigfoot.

(said all evidence suggested Canada was not in North Korea’s crosshairs...)
So let’s appease the crocodile so that he eats Canada last! Canadians must be proud of heir current administration!

I forget the numbers but I believe that a huge % of the Canadian population lives just on the other side of the USA border.

...there’s no way we wouldn’t do something. That said, I often get a little annoyed by smug Canadian liberals criticizing the USA over things like gun rights, health care, etc. when they don’t have anything close to what we pay for when it comes to military spending, yet live under our protection.

It might be ‘technically correct’ in the sense that the defensive missile silo’s are situated to give them an engagement envelope to protect the US — not some other territory. Being able to defend Seattle implies we could also protect Vancouver, but Calgary might be SOL.

But as you said, the general is just stirring the pot with his comments.

That's why I think North Korea is unlikely to attack South Korea with nukes given that North Korea is only 30 miles from Seoul. The radiation will go right back at them.

Pyongyang is 121 miles from Seoul, and upwind. Any fallout would most likely be blown toward Japan.

But I don't think North Korea would waste a nuke on Seoul just yet. More likely targets are US island military bases further away, like Guam or Okinawa, allowing to Kim to claim he was "deterring aggression" rather than attacking civilians.

Thanks for that info - it confirms a common sense approach. Still don’t know what the Canadian General is trying to accomplish though.

Canada chose not to be part of the missile defense. Why?

Sounds like Trump is making Canada take responsibility for her choices. Reminds me of Trump, NATO and the 2%.

Doesn’t this apply after an attack?

Canada chose NOT to be part part of the missile defense program. Why?

Thank you.

Canada did an absolutely fantastic job on 9/11 as well.

Still can't figure out why Canada wouldn't want to be part of a missile defense program? It's “defense” not offense! IOW, sign me up!

I think you are right.

Canada should join the missile shield and the US should have more interceptors, 20 isn't near enough.
