The three richest counties in the United States with populations of 65,000 or more, when measured by their 2016 median household incomes, were all suburbs of Washington, D.C., according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

Eight of the 20 wealthiest counties with populations of 65,000 or more were also suburbs of Washington, D.C.--as were 10 of the top 25.

Those counties are riddled with conniving thieves.

Who could dispute this? :-)

Trump’s un-drained swamp still stinks.

I read not long ago that 4 of the 5 richest, and 7 of the ten richest, counties in the US are suburbs of DC.

One would thing that it would be NYC...Chicago...Philly...or San Francisco. But it's the one major city that produces nothing but paperwork.

And to think that some wonder why DC,Virginia and Maryland go so reliably to Rats.

This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. In a fascist political-economic system, the government is the largest “industry” no matter how useless and unproductive it is.

Based on information that is 8 years old... that probably hasn’t changed much in regards to where the most money is.

President Trump will get to preside over a new census in two years. An accurate, straight forward one that reveals facts that are actually needed to run a country, not for keeping track of political information.

How is it these counties are teeming with 3rd world refugees and Central Americans? How do they afford to live there?

The local governments(politburos) that surround DC subsidize these third worlders. I could not afford to live there but those dishwashers and lawn engineers surly can somehow.

Who said there is no ruling class in United States? Yes, there is, and I have seen it with my own eyes in DC.

Perfect reference! “The Imperial Capital” has got to have The Founding Fathers spinning in their grave since this is so far removed from what they conceived.

If you drive up to the origin (it’s worth a five-day stop), the four counties/regions ought to be Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, and Georgetown (westside of DC). So then you drive to Montgomery County, MA and Prince George County, MA, and cross over the river to eastern Washington DC’s Anacosta neighbor (don’t stop for any reason). It’s like two separate countries.

I worked with an older guy who’d bought a Arlington house in the early 1970s for around $60k. Brick, ranch-type home, nothing special other than a big yard....today it’s worth probably in the range of $500,000.

If you go and do voting demographics...it’s probably 75-percent Democrat. Then you drive out 20 miles...toward Leesburg and Dumfries....it’s 75-percent GOP.

This is a Chicken/Egg thing and goes back before the founding. Is D.C. there because of the money or is the money there because of D.C.? The Chesapeake Bay region has always been and will always be the richest part of this country, at least measured per capita. Fairfax and Baltimore were Lords with mind blowing land grants before they were Cities and Counties.

That could be corrected with TERM LIMITS, SUBJECTING OFFICEHOLDERS TO ALL LAWS APPLYING TO THE PUBLIC AT LARGE (insider trading in particular) and ALL POLITICAL DONATIONS BEING ANONYMOUS.
