They are pathetic. I’ve dealt with them on a number of occasions. “Inept” is too weak a word.

Indeed, “corrupt” is too weak a word.

They are among the most fake of fake charities.

My father,WWII,Korean,VN war vet said the same.Said the Red Cross charged soldiers at hospitals and outlying areas for coffee and donuts.

Guaranteed when we had the big Butte Fire they were in the way here. It was Samaritan Purse everyone still talks about, and the local Churches that did not let Red Cross take their buildings were the Hubs for all the locals. There was to much red tape through the Red Cross and our Locals are skittish of that stuff. Plus very conservative area and they already knew about the Red Cross. Lots of Veterans here. The only thing the Red Cross ever did for me was put a Priority call through to me from my Husband when He was in the Saigon Hospital during Tet , but it was the Volunteer Ham operators who did the work, and that was 50 years ago.

Nothing holy about my action, and certainly no holier than anybody else’s ... especially the folks that are volunteering their time and effort instead of just writing a check. Just disappointed to learn that American Red Cross isn’t living up to expectations, and that other Freepers knew about this and I did not.

I thought the 6-8 homes built in Haiti versus a claimed 1,000+ was the “good work” of Clinton’s foundation and buddies ‘Haitian relief effort’ not the Red Cross.

Reference the ‘skimpy meals’ - Red Cross response vehicles that are initially deployed have limited on board cooking facilities and food stock. It could be that the meals were from the initial vehicle and crew cooking what they brought in with them and that they had not yet received a resupply from the donated food on trucks that were enroute to the flood area.

Also, one needs to look at the number of people to be fed in the shelter compared to how much food the response vehicle was pre-stocked with, thus a ‘skimpy meal’ may mean rationing what was available so that all the refugees would have something to eat, rather than the first through the line having a whole lot of food, and the folks at the end of the line having only empty trays.

I know someone who works in an administrative position at the Red Cross.

As to:

“The red cross is all about salaries and administrative expenses.”

This all must be in upper management. My friend’s administrative office job is as an unpaid volunteer. And she’s not the only one like her in her office.

Wanna learn about the RC, ask a WWI, WWII, KOR or VN vet. I’m too old to speak for vets after VN. Ask blood donors who have precious blood types. Ask anyone who has received “aid” from them and later got the bill. Look what they stole after 9/11!

I used to push the SA, but they went political.....AND they joined the wrong side...”the Resistance.”

Samaritan’s Purse now gets my money.

They both may be guilty of the same things. Seems I recall the Clintons having problems proving they were actually helping out too.

The article I read was specifically addressing the Red Cross and their problems.
