Mattis Warns North Korea Of 'Massive Military Response' If It Threatens US, Allies
The Hill ^ | 09/03/17 | Julia Manchester

Defense Secretary James Mattis on Sunday issued a stark warning to North Korea, saying the country would be met with a "massive military response" if it threatened the U.S. or its allies.

"Any threat to the United States or its territories including Guam or our allies will be met with a massive military response," Mattis said in a statement outside of the White House after meeting with President Trump.

"Kim Jong Un should take heed the United Nations Security Council's unified voice. All members unanimously agreed on the threat North Korea poses. And they remain unanimous in their commitment to the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. Because we are not looking to the total annihilation of a country, namely, North Korea," he continued.

Mattis said the U.S. had "many military options" regarding the Korean peninsula, and that the president wanted to be briefed on all of them.

Mattis's aggressive, holiday-weekend statement comes hours after North Korean state media announced the country had successfully tested a miniaturized hydrogen bomb capable of fitting on an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The move is a show of defiance against Washington and the international community.

The UN Security Council unanimously voted last month to impose sanctions on Pyongyang after the country launched a series of ICBMs.

The council announced it would be having an emergency meeting to discuss the developments.

The Defense secretary's statement matches President Trump's recent hawkish statements regarding North Korea.

Trump strongly condemned Pyongyang's actions, saying the U.S. was considering imposing sanctions on North Korea's trade partners.

“we need to ask ahead of time which of our allies is ready to fight with us?”

Answer: Most likely none, but maybe SK and Japan.

When she used to get on television and try to explain things, it was clear she wasn’t ready for prime time.

Nobody pushed back hard on the Clintons and their appointees.

I can’t cook a decent brisket either. LOL

Japan and Soko are ready, I think.

China and Russia know that this fat little fart needs to bite the dust.

Trump is a builder...a doer.

Prepare to die Fat Boi.

If that happens then, Israel will nuke Iran.

If Israel is attacked after that, then they will launch the Samson option. Which is conservatively 400 to as many as 800 nukes.

`blow up fat boy' .......... That seems to me too to be the solution. You don't poke the bear or screw with the eagle--get your eyes ripped out. Image and video hosting by TinyPic Kim Jong-un reminds me of this autistic kid I know who lives each day, by what he says and does, as if he's hoping to get his *** kicked. Of course he can't help himself. It would be a mercy killing. Like another dictator with a funny looking mustache, no sense in global conflagration if we can, Fife-style, nip it in the bud.

Sad thing is the average NK citizen doesn’t have a clue as to what dear leader is up to.

The Nork attack is weeks away...perhaps a few months.

But it is being planned and the plans are being tested.

From post to post you have demonstrated that you an idiot...or perhaps more charitably...a troll.

Ironic, I was going to post the same comment on this so-called Freeper as you did, but in another thread earlier today. Unfortunately, at the last minute I deleted it.

This was in the ‘70’s, they showed scenes from “Untouchables” and claimed it was actually happening at that time...

The US has been misapprehended before. A captured German officer was allowed to watch some of the American landing at Normandy. He was shocked. “Where,” he asked, “are the horses?”

In addition to multiplying his ICBM threat, Kim will also proliferate his technology to other bad actors who will be willing to pay handsomely for it.

Never underestimate your enemy. The little bastard is probably thinking several moves ahead about how to leverage his newfound weapons technology both economically and geopolitically.

He's a weird dude for a Freeper.

Time and time again he has trashed all that we hold dear.

There are plenty of contrarians here (and that's OK), but this guy is evil.

“Those poor, poor, generations of Koreans.”

The fruits of communism and socialism. Any American who thinks that way of government is better than capitalism is either too young or too stupid to know better. Further, it is American socialists/communists who are responsible for bringing the world to the brink. Just heard some talking head bimbo speaking on Fox about how American business leaders are ‘moving left’ and away from Trump (citing the dreamer act). She was gleeful.

The hypocrisy and stupidity just drips from these people. When it comes time for people like Anderson Cooper, Mika, Megyn Kelley, and their compatriots to negotiate for a salary, they're pure capitalism. They have no respect for ‘middle America’. None. The ‘dreamer act’ isn't about being charitable to others. I don't want any child in the world to hurt or suffer, ever, and I truly feel their lives are more important than mine because they are children. It's about having a sane policy for American sovereignty, and stopping adults from taking advantage of the goodwill of the American people.

It is possible Kim has more hydrogen bombs ready and the one last night was confirmation that they are operative. This cartoon underplays the capability of his arsenal. I can guarantee if he lets a hydrogen boom fly a japan or alaska or seattle it will hurt more than a foot.

Isn’t Japan bound by an international agreement that they cannot engage in defensive warfare unless there is clear proof that their boundaries have been violated? My MacArthur history is spotty. Maybe it’s time to restore more of Japan’s rights to defend it’s self without UN (?) approval.

You are correct. We have dual problems, NK and Iran, that are connected at the hip. We have to deal decisively with one to stop the other.
