U.S. Dispatches Stealth Jets, Bombers in Warning to North Korea
WSJ ^ | 08/31/2017 | Jonathan Cheng

The U.S. sent four of its most advanced fighter jets and a pair of B-1B bombers over the Korean Peninsula, alongside Japanese and South Korean jets, as a show of force in direct response to North Korea firing a missile over Japan.

The Air Force flyover Thursday, which included a bombing drill on a range in South Korea, came at the end of annual joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises that have angered Pyongyang.

It is the first time the F-35B jets have been used in such a mission with the B-1B bombers over the peninsula, the U.S. Air Force Pacific Command said in a statement. It said the flyover—which also included two Japanese F-15 and four South Korean F-15K fighter jets—emphasized an “ironclad commitment” to the defense of allies and the U.S., and maintained a readiness to give leaders “viable and ready military options.”

The latest move threatens to raise the temperature again on the peninsula, after North Korea’s launch Tuesday of an intermediate-range ballistic missile that soared over the Japanese city of Hakodate and landed in the Pacific Ocean.

The U.S. said Thursday’s mission was in direct response to North Korea’s missile launch.

It’s nice to know that the WSJ is concerned that the ...

“...military exercises that have angered Pyongyang”.

And that the WSJ is concerned that ...

“The latest move threatens to raise the temperature again on the peninsula,...”

I didn’t even bother to click the link since I know these slobs want me to pay money to read their propaganda.

This all a distraction. Trump is squeezing China big time on trade. China is the problem.

A WARNING? Don’t waste your time. Get our troops away from the DMZ. An American soldier’s life is not worth 1 Korean’s anymore than it’s worth that of any Moozlems.

Otto Von Bismarck once said something like “All the Balkans are not worth the life of a single Pomeranian Grenadier”.

I think you’re right let Iran and NK develop ICBMs and tip them with nukes that can destroy US cities. ignore the threes from each. Pull back and sit on our hands and let the fun begin. This and abortion are why i left the libertarians. Suicide.

We need to prevent Chubs from ever gaining the ability to strike U.S. territory with nukes.

I'm thinking....shoot down any further missile launches. If the lil twit moves forward with preps for another nuke test....MOAB the complex.

Bullies never respond to weakness, rather a punch in the nose. Everyone comments about the military might of the Norks...I say, they'll collapse like a two dollar suit case within a couple of weeks.

If they are flying B-2s, things just got serious. I wonder what they thought when they couldn’t detect them?

This is really funny as we are not the only country wishing to turn NK into glass. We won’t have to fire a shot.

And that moron leader they have in NK is well aware of it. He may not be suicidal, but he is an idiot as he and everyone else knows he doesn’t have a cat’s chance in hell of not becoming part of the countryside. He’s an idiot. And the sad part is his people love him while he’s busy writing him off and starving them to death. Third world country.

B-2s are detectable by modern AA radar systems and have been for a decade. They can’t be seen well enough to get a missile lock but you can tell something is there well enough to vector fighters to check it out. Or blanket the area with AA.

The F-117A brought down in the Balkans was brought down because the plane was detectable but not localizable. So the Balkanites blanketed the area and an ancient SA-2 blew the stealth fighter out of the sky.

Hmmm... F35’s. Israeli F35s are Rumored to have taken out Assad’s S300 anti-aircraft batteries. Hmmm, a one two punch, we take out your defense and then smack you with a loaded B1, now that is sending a message.

Later reporting indicated that the Israeli raid was successful because just like the last few times the Israeli Air Force raided Syria, they came in hard and fast at extremely low altitude - below the minimum detection altitude for their AA systems.

The Airforce does’t have F-35Bs, they have F-35As and they are not in service yet.

You sound happy about it.
Any relation to Sen. Leahy who spilled the B-1’s?

Stop projecting.

The point is that pretending we have an invisible invincible air force is a great way to get a whole bunch of American airmen killed for no good reason. A practical and realistic appraisal of our capabilities and a realistic estimation or even a bit of overestimation of a potential adversary’s capabilities is much better for victory and for survival.

By the way, it was some unaffiliated *Australians* that formally figured this out and wrote a white paper about it. The Russians immediately upgraded their systems as a result.
