Is there a better protest than sitting for the national anthem?

kbstafford89"If you think the country can be better, stand for the ideal. If you think the answer is people showing unity, stand with them. The anthem is not the national police song. The anthem is not the national racists song. The anthem is an exercise in how this country can endure and rise, how we can agree on its future potential, even while struggling with its present. The anthem’s words depict a flag that is suffering through bombs and rockets. You could easily view those bombs and rockets as the challenges our democracy faces today, and the flag a symbol of rising above them." -Mitch albom

Actually stand up put your hand over your heart and really SING the song.

That’s what I will being doing today. Time to change the “erl” and clean-up the gas guzzling muscle car after the Summers use.

Could care less about the NFL. Might go to a high school game or two this season.

Agree. When I returned from serving a year in Vietnam I still had a little over a year left to serve. I was in Military Police and was assigned to a small detachment at Pine Bluff Arsenal, Arkansas. Assignment was routine police duty along with performing military funerals for KIA’s In the area. Learned a lot from doing these funerals. I would challenge these NFL players who want to take a knee to attend a military funeral of an Afganistan or Iraq KIA first and observe how solemn the ceremony is and the reverence given the flag when folded over the coffin and then presented to a mom or young wife with her little kids standing beside her. Then, let’s see if the rich pampered punks still want to take a knee. I think not....

My prediction is that it will come to an end when other players do similar sh!t to "protest" over their own pet issues. At that point, everyone will realize how silly and self-defeating this nonsense is.

Better yet ... imagine NFL players standing on the sidelines wearing "Make America Great Again" paraphernalia. LOL.

Every seat in the old Giants Stadium was assigned to a season ticket holder, and the New York Giants used to have a decades-long waiting list for season tickets. People would put their names on the waiting list in the hope that their grandchildren might someday get to the top of the list.

With the new stadium that came to an end. The introduction of ridiculously expensive seat licenses chased away every season ticket holder I knew. Even those who could afford to pay for tickets and seat licenses under the new arrangement realized how stupid it was to shell out that kind of money to watch NFL games.

Today, you can go onto the Giants website and buy individual game tickets. This would have been unheard of 20 years ago.

Football is stoopit. There, I've said it. [expecting inbound rotten tomatoes coming my way now .. /laughs ] ... a bunch of Neanderthal retards who haven't a clue, piling on each other and then emerging from the mess dancing like they just invented the essence of the universe. Stupidity in fine form.

What is really astonishing about Football is how some fairly intelligent and successful people ... Doctors, Scientists, ect ect ... can become so Neanderthal themselves, spending thousands of dollars on season tix, painting their faces and behaving like an idiot at the games. Screaming like a Banshee, making silly faces, gesturing about wildly ... all the while saying that Football is "intricate and nuanced like Ballet" ... nonsense !!!

Colin Kaepernick and his moronic ilk is a good example ... none of you Football fans ever talk about how he's been disrespecting the country which gave him his fortunes ... you only talk abut how he's a lousy Quarterback and how no team should sign him, or that he might be signed mid-season if some other Q-Back on another team goes down to injury.

OK ... I've ranted about Football .... you may now toss rotten tomatoes, or call for me getting the Zot, but this is my take on Football. It isn't as 'brilliant' or 'precise' as you pretend it to be.

I like Jerry Jones response to all of this. If someone from my team does that they are gone.

Sure.

One can stand for it.

This protest is about getting “whitey”, period, end of story.
Yes, I know there are millions of great Black Patriots who disagree with kneeling, but at the end of the day, this is about racist black people sticking it to white people.

No. It’s me too. I really dont understand why the NFL owners can’t just have the players come out AFTER the national anthem. They can hear it from the tunnel and make their own Private decision. If we keep showing them on camera it will be the same as the idiots who run onto the field. They’ll just keep doing it.

“Better check your math.”

Oops! You’re right. I slipped a couple of decimal points there. That would be only a dollar a person.

I learned mathematics from my mother, who was a math teacher, and form a series of excellent teachers at Northwood Senior High in the 50’ and 60’s, and at the University of Maryland, Ohio State University, and UMBC, where I got my degree in math more than a decade ago. There is no call for you to get snarky; anyone can make a mistake when replying quickly to a social media post. My main point stands: these over paid sports figures could do better giving away some of their generous salaries than by insulting and showing disrespect for the country by refusing to stand for the national anthem.
