President Donald Trump said the U.S. is no longer nation-building but rather is "killing terrorists" during his primetime address Monday night at Fort Myer in Arlington, Va, regarding the U.S. path forward in Afghanistan.
Trump said the U.S. will continue its support for the Afghan government and military as they fight the Taliban in the field, but said that it is up to the Afghan people to "take ownership of their future."
"We are a partner and a friend, but we will not dictate to the Afghan people how to live or how to govern their own complex society," Trump said.
"We are not nation-building again," Trump added. "We are killing terrorists."
Trump concluded his remarks by saying that America's support for the Afghan government is not a "blank check" and that the American people expect to see "real reforms" and "real results" in the country.
The war in Afghanistan has lasted 16 years, making it the longest conflict in U.S. history.

It’ like saying “we are not changing a country’s way of thinking, we are just killing the bad ones” during WWII against Germany.
We DID stay after we SLAUGHTERED Germans in numbers we wont COME NEAR in Afghanistan AND the mindset of the vast majority of those folks is backwards and includes killing Christians and Jews.
We’re gonna do what? With 5 or 10k men?
Stay there forever and keep putting out small fires where we can while Afghani soldiers/police kill a dozen of our men every now and then.
And they’re supposed to be HELPING US.

Afghanistan is an artificial construct created by the evil bureaucrats are the British Empire. You really should be broken into at least seven countries based on ethnic populations and geography. Until that’s done Afghanistan will never be stable. As we all know countries that are ethically homogenous are very stable that’s why the globalist want to have mass migration into America to break us down.

Killing terrorists can be a good first step to allow the natives to rebuild their own countries. Just keep killing the bastards wherever you find them and the world will be a much happier place.
If it’s SO important, send several hundred thousand men in and win it like it’s a WAR!!

Actually, it seems the Iraqi army finally grew some balls after they had to mostly fight the ground game on their own against ISIS with mostly air support from us.
Maybe that’s what the Afghans need.

I’m way too far from smart enough to have a concrete answer for this situation.
Just hate seeing men die and mothers and wives mourn for those POS.
We werent HELPING Germany and Japan. We were killing them.
When we HELP, it never goes so well, like Vietnam, NK, Iraq, Afghanistan.
And not because the men that fought them were any less great.
They were/are incredible warriors.
But a vast majority of a country has to REALLY want to be helped for it to work.
That ain’t the case here.
The best chance we have to get out is to give the enemy a reason to come to the table. Ironically, Trump did the only thing that gives us a real chance to get out with out letting everything we have done burn to the ground.

No matter how he phrased this, it’s a stunning break of his campaign promise and totally not in line with his America First policy he has advocated since day one. No doubt he has surrendered to the globalists
Didn’t hear the speech which many said was good.
But isn’t Afghanistan a place that will always breed/spawn more terrorists than we can ever kill? Like Wak-a-Mole?
Of all his campaign promises, I don’t recall “pull out of Afghanistan” as being one.
One of his promises I do recall was “defeat terror”. This is part of that promise.
