A new Marist poll finds that 62% of Americans believe statues of Confederate leaders should be allowed to stand. What’s more, a majority of self-identified “Soft Democrats” say Confederate monuments should remain.
The survey of 1,125 adults (at least 18 years of age), conducted August 14-15, 2017 and sponsored in collaboration with NPR and PBS NewsHour, asked:
“Do you think statues honoring leaders of the Confederacy should?”
Results for “Independent” respondents mirrored that of all respondents, while Democrats favored removing the statues and Republicans were strongly in favor of preserving them:
“Remain as a historical symbol”:
Total: 62%
Democrats: 44%
Republicans: 86%, Independents: 61%
“Be removed because they are offensive to some people”:
Total: 27%
Democrats: 47%,
GOP: 6%,
Independents: 27%
“Unsure”:
Total: 11%,
Democrats: 9%,
Republicans: 8%,
Independents: 12%
Among “Soft Democrats,” 52% said the statues should remain, while only 33% said they should be removed (15% unsure).
“Strong Democrats” favored removal, 57%-34%, with 9% unsure.
For the GOP, both strong (88%) and soft (86%) Republicans favored retaining the statutes honoring Confederate leaders, mirroring their overall average of 86%.

I agree it’s higher than that I don’t know who this polling firm is but 1200 adults 18 and up probably skews it a little bit liberal but even so the majority of people clearly are not having this.

A Rasmussen poll couple days ago showed the same thing basically a decent size majority of Americans are against the removal of the Confederate statues and monuments.
I’m guessing a pretty good percentage would favor returning to the Confederacy.
Uh oh - Trump was right again - not everyone who opposes removing confederate statues is a Nazi or KKK member - unless you think that 65% of the American public are KKKers and Nazis.......
Probably more than 62 per cent since this is a fake poll.
And clearly white supremacists. Rubio says they should be violently attacked for these views.
When the movie Gettysburg came out years ago, we watched it as a family, and then went there, then watched it again. My daughters wanted to know who the bad guys and good guys were. I answered neither; they just had different ideas.
They were all Americans.

THIS ladies and gentlemen is what is known as a “wedge issue”.
But the Republicans were TOO STUPID to leverage it. They find themselves on the Democrat side of the fulcrum.

Based on gay marriage laws I’d say 99% could favor keeping the monuments and it won’t matter. 1% tells the other 99% what to do.
That’s why I said it’s probably even higher then 62% is probably like in the upper sixties because you know they oversampled Dems and it’s adults not voters.
Of course because they were too busy trying to appease the liberal media and attack Trump. These guys have no Insight whatsoever.
