Walmart’s C.E.O. Joins Group to Rebuke Trump Over Charlottesville
New York Times ^ | 8/15/2017 | Rachel Abrams and Michael Corkery

Walmart’s chief executive issued a strong rebuke of President Trump’s response to the protests that turned violent in Charlottesville, Va., saying the president “missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together.”

The criticism came in a statement that the retailer’s chief executive, Doug McMillon, emailed to employees Monday evening, which was reviewed by The New York Times. The statement was later posted on a company website.

“As we watched the events and the response from President Trump over the weekend, we too felt that he missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting the appalling actions of white supremacists,” he wrote.

Where was this rage when BLM types attacked Trump supporter with bike locks and obama stayed silent?

That was the real missed opportunity to help bring our country together.

I am very sick of this. This must be stopped now. It is going to be faster than warp speed soon.

He should be immediately fired as he just did something that will sink the stock. If I was a stockholder, I would sue him. A CEO should NEVER takes sides in politics with regards to business, especially a publicly held company because no matter what side you take, you will lose half your customers. This guy is an absolute idiot. Here is the stock today, guaranteed it will dive starting tomorrow even though TRUMP is doing great with the economy. A class action suit by the stockholders should be filed tomorrow.

Well this is annoying. We spend a lot of money at Sam’s/walmart. Running out of options though.

Ya’ know, where was Obama when Ferguson burned, and when the police in Dallas were murdered, and countless other instances of racially motivated violence. It was crickets. How dare they criticize this President.

The argument that Trump’s first statement was not enough due to a lack of specificity in not identifying white supremacists ignores the equally violent and intolerable Antifa element. The President’s first statement was the more accurate of the two. If he had merely made the second statement only it would have legitimized Antifa and what they see as morally superior position to be anarchists. What gives them the right to judge and act on that judgement extralegally?

Liberal Democrats in New York control a trillion dollar broadcasting infrastructure through which they censor speech that doesn't agree with their personal opinions.

They communicate with the public, we don't. That is why they can make stuff up and have all these people parroting back the crap the "news" media says.

I’m sure the Walton family has a long political history being headquartered in Arkansas. Who else with a long corrupt history do we know from Arkansas?

We will see if there are enough of us patriots left to effect their bottom line.

Does their stock go up or down today? Again, we’ll see...

Racist jerk. The only thing that will “bring us together” is for the lefty commies to stop destroying America through their general subversion of mroals and ethics, through their destructive rioting, through their constant attack on those who aren’t leftist idiots and through their general lunatic behavior.

Yes, but not the same one that made the statements about white males a few years back. That was Rosalind Brewer, who is a gal pal of Valerie Jarrett. She was canned earlier this year.

Why would thinking people over react to something they read in the New York Times? Perhaps they are not thinking.

Coward puts a finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing and gloms on.

The president’s first statement was more than adequate. These are staged events with paid provacateurs.

I rebuke Walmart....with my feet and my money.

Can't stand the place. Only go in Walmart when I have no other choice.

I remember years ago when Walmart was beginning their climb. Their kiosks of clothing and so forth had cardboard American flag banners atop them. Proudly made in America they said.

Busted! They were advertising made in America all the while the products were foreign made. Boycotted them ever since.

You won’t be able to buy anything, period, since virtually all the upscale businesses are anti-Trump, too, including virtually all of Silicon Valley.

There has to be a way to hurt these businesses without reverting to being Luddites.

Perhaps we can choose to hurt them WHEN it counts.

On the holidays and special sales times.

Don’t like to shop in crouds anyway.

And if enough of us do it, they WILL feel it!

Meanwhile, look for local mom and pop outlets.
