This has been an ongoing item in the Durham/Raleigh area for a couple years now.
If you watch the video on WRAL you can see that there were cops within 100 feet or so watching it happen.
Lincoln was blood thirsty dirty politician and nothing more. He got his deification because some dumb ass ventilated his skull.
Heck, if asked on a ballot to remove these statues, I’d vote yes. Instead of fighting this, everyone should have taken this approach. Now, instead, we see historic action as people-power does what legislators wouldn’t do. I have no sympathy for those hanging on to these long dead traitors. They are not heros, never were. My real sadness is what this does to our communities and society. We are empowering people to take direct action instead of using government, the ballot box, and courts. That will hurt us, it will take a long time to reign this in and restore order, trust, and respect. So unnecessary.
Wonder how many freepers joined that crew.
I wonder if these leftist pukes have the cognition to realize they are being CUT, CUT CUT! out of wills all over the nation.
They were the North's version of slaves.
shut up
The Confederacy was a moment in time that is slowly fading away.
therefore we should allow hopped up idiots to pull down the memorials and then spit on them, as if the statue had ever done them harm...? The signing of the Declaration of Independence was a moment in time, should we allow BLM or antifa to rip up the document and jump up and down like rabid primates...?
I’m thinking about 5 lbs of home made termite would do a good job on that abomination.
Lincoln was blood thirsty dirty politician and nothing more.
yeah, okay, sure...kinda like ole Jeff Davis...
The media runs public opinion. They can stir racial resentment, or they can smooth it over. It's all in how they want to report the "news."
"Hands up! Don't Shoot! " For example.
They were the North’s version of slaves.
sure, sure...except nobody forced them to come here, chained together in the brig...
therefore we should allow hopped up idiots to pull down the memorials and then spit on them, as if the statue had ever done them harm...? One of the most Ironic things in American history is that speech "Four Score and Seven Years ago..."
I looked it up. It was referring to 1776, when a collection of slave owning States broke away from a far stronger Union and who's armies were led by a Slave Owning General from Virginia.
Praising the beginning of an Independence movement while in the process of crushing an Independence movement.
Like I said, "Ironic."
I saw what you did there. Cleavon Little reference.
"...Heck, if asked on a ballot to remove these statues, I'd vote yes.
Instead of fighting this, everyone should have taken this approach..."
Word is, military memorials are next.
Well the Declaration of Independence celebrates a victory. There’s a difference.
History doesn’t generally pay homage to the losers. At least not for long.
Once all of the Confederates are removed from all of these towns they should be fully satiated. But they are never, ever satiated.
What is next? Who goes first on Mount Rushmore?
I remember traveling through Mississippi and the south in 1967, to go to my grandfather’s funeral in Florida, and seeing US Army jeeps with mounted machine guns out protecting US citizens, black Americans, from violent hate-filled racists and KKK. That is history of our nation, and time these statues come down and we finish uniting our country. And this is a national issue, not a local issue.
As Trump said today, there is no room for racism, hate, and bigotry.
