After 1999 WTO riots in Seattle, the ACLU, the leftist media, and the massive progressive component that drives all politics in the Puget Sound area, collectively threw the Seattle Police Department under the bus. Law enforcement has been taught that inaction is less risky than confronting mob violence. The message the left really wants to send is “only OUR violence is okay.”
The only important job of the police is to protect the government.
The ‘little people’...not so much.
The Unite the Right people had a valid, legal permit to be there. Their event was planned and scheduled weeks in advance. The antiFa and Black Lies Matter hoard had no permit to be there. The police had the DUTY and RESPONSIBILITY to bring enough men, and equipment, including barriers to keep the two sides separated. This result was as pre-planned by the authorities so as to give the media something else with which to bash white people in general, conservatives and Trump in particular.
It is reported that the DoJ has launched a Civil Rights investigation, and if they have any guts at all, they will conclude that the rights of the Unite the Right group were the one whose rights were violated, both by the leftist thugs, but first by the authorities, who willfully allowed them to be first attacked, followed by the cancellation of their permit AFTER then event had started.

From what I understand people who are grabbed are able to pay a small fine and walk away. That needs to change because there is potential there to make the tax burden worse by enforcing piddling laws strenuously and getting sued as a result. Penalties for rioting and other bad behavior needs to contain elements of meaningful restitution. The cost/benefit analysis for the average law enforcement officer needs to favor arrest when beneficial.
People who peacefully protest without breaking things, harming others, and radically altering the lives of residents for the worse are good citizens and should be encouraged, but this is not what we are seeing.
It’s okay for Muslims to hate Jews.
The left is doing all of this to blame Trump.
