Someone he gets a vehicle into a highly policed and cordoned area.
Hits the antifa crowd.
Reverses - straight- under control at high speed
Gets away. Not tailed, no motorcycle cops no surveillance, despite this being s huge high profile events with law enforcement crawling all over the place.
He arrives in a suburban area.
Black SUVs arrive and residents are ordered into their homes.
Driver 1 is taken away fast in a black SUV.
Younger guy is seen cuffed and arrested.
He is perp walked and charged as the driver.
Meanwhile - while the driver switching is happening reports start about a helicopter crash.

What do you want to bet the police matched the VIN of the car our suspect purchased and compared it to the VIN of the car used in this incident? Any guess as to the outcome?

Now I am really mystified about the lack of police presence.
The site of the accident is very, very close to Charlottesville PD headquarters.
It is extremely hard for me to understand why there wasn’t a larger police presence on this street, which is filled with stores and restaurants.
I observe in the picture (in post #42) that there are at least one and possibly two cans of pepper spray that are physically on the hood of the Challenger. There is a small one in the crack between the front edge of the hood and the front grill (it’s a small black cylinder, located just above and to the left of the Dodge Ram emblem). That’s definitely pepper spray as I have an identical one that I carry when I jog. There is also possibly a large one with a rainbow motif, sitting on the cowl by the base of the windshield. It has the looped top that the big canisters of bear spray have. Not sure about the rainbow coloring unless that was meant to be an IFF symbol in the midst of a potential melee.
Entirely possible that they were deposited there during the ramming, but I’m surprised it hasn’t raised questions. There is a possibility he was leaving the protest in his car and got spotted and attacked, causing him to panic.
I’m also considering the possibility that he did not know there were cars in front of him that were blocking the street He may have been fleeing an attack from behind and could not see the cars stopped in the street in front of him, due to the crowd. He just motored through the people and never saw the stopped sedan in front of him until he hit it.
There is certainly the possibility that he deliberately attacked with his car, but why ram into a parked car? That’s the surest way to disable your own vehicle and leave you at the mercy of an enraged mob. The ramming of the other car and the pepper spray on the hood is what makes me even consider the possibility that he was fleeing in panic from an attack that happened further up the street.
I am also puzzled why a 20 year old would intentionally use his muscle car as a battering ram. Most guys who have a muscle car are really into it and would not just willingly destroy it in that way. That’s entirely supposition on my part but it has been my experience with just about every owner of a muscle car, that it’s their pride and joy.
It will be interesting to see how this all plays out in court.

Muscle car is a term used to describe cars of the late 60’s/early 70’s, that were performance oriented. Unlike sports cars, which were for spirited road course driving, muscle cars were primarily built for drag racing duty.
The car in question is a modern-day Dodge Challenger, a tribute car to the legendary 1970 Challenger. Check out the movie “Vanishing Point”, which immortalized the Challenger.

You think that video shows that the man charged with murder was in his car being chased by thugs on foot and gunned his car into the crowd in an attempt to escape?
I see people smashing his car with clubs after he crashed into the crowd right before he put his Challenger in reverse and gunned it out of there, but that’s after the fact.
I don’t see anyone up the street in the reverse shot that was chasing him in his car causing him to panic (or whatever your suspicion is) and crash into the crowd. I think it shows he clearly attacked the head of the counter-protestor march on that narrow street then reversed and gunned it out of there in his escape.
You should recognize that this man has been charged with second degree murder for a deliberate act. Let his lawyer claim he was under duress and in fear for his life — ultimately, a situation he travelled from out of state to put himself in as part of a violently provocative public demonstration. He’s not some innocent father of a family of tourists who unwittingly found his family van under attack by club-wielding hippies. This will hugely mitigate his chances at a successful defense, you might agree.
He killed at least one person deliberately, sir. Just like the sniper in Texas who murdered four policemen at a BLM demonstration. Stop making excuses for him.
Did you expect those chasing to have kept pace with a fleeing car? Of course they arrived a bit later.
I tend to discount theories about WHY the driver in the car struck some people, killing one and injuring many others.
Given the size of the crowds and other conditions I tend to believe someone who was trying to intentional attack a bunch of protestors with his car, would have succeeded in a lot more damage than what actually happened.
The whole truth may not fully absolve the driver of every possible crime, but I think he will be absolved of any conspiracy to go to the scene and mow a bunch of protestors down with his car.
If his car had just previously been surrounded and it was being pummeled by antifa rioters in the crowd, he may have panicked and attempted to lunge forward to get out of the crowd.
