A 47-year-old Irishman has been arrested by Border Patrol agents in Northwest Montana for attempting to enter the United States illegally.
Agents encountered the Irishman, carrying a large backpack, along the international border near the northeast section of Glacier National Park. He had previously overstayed his US visa and was prohibited from re-entering the United States for an extended period, according to Michael Rappold, public affairs officer for the Havre Sector Border Patrol Station.
According to the authorities, the Irishman entered the United States from Canada by walking southbound, through the woods, to avoid detection. Rappold told the press he was just carrying clothes and nothing illegal.
He has been arrested and processed in preparation for a removal hearing. He remains in custody (as of Aug 10) with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). …

Last I heard, the US has no way to know where visa overstayers are.
Not entirely correct. For a long long time the US has not CARED where Visa overstays are. Do they have credit cads? Do they pay fees for property or pets? No way anyone can survive here without leaving any paper trail.
Tracking is a problem as you say.

First of all...having been arrested in Montana it would appear that he succeeded in entering the US illegally.

Funny they had no problem finding and removing one Irishman but can’t find 11 million illegal Mexicans.
I say 90 days for the first offense, then 2 years for the second, or maybe 5 years, out in two with good behavior. Three strikes... go away for a long time.

I heard some guy call into a late evening show Thursday. BS crazy liberal and dumb as a post. There is something wrong in the green isle because most I see in videos are much like the caller. I’ve never worked with many irish but it seems like a pretty closed society. Like they don’t get around much and don’t want to.
