Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr shared a powerful story about the day God spoke to him and helped him save the lives of three people who were desperate and about to commit suicide.
A video of Carrs testimony posted to Facebook Saturday has gone viral, with nearly a million views and more than 15,000 shares.
In the video, Carr explains why he believes its so important to be obedient to God, especially when the personal stakes are high. Carr said he was speaking at a large event with his brother where hundreds of people were in attendance.
At the end of the event, a pastor announced an altar call for his church.
As clear as day, the Holy Spirit tells me, Someone in here is going to commit suicide unless you say something,' Carr recalled.
Thats when the NFL quarterback became conflicted: Should he really stand up during an altar call and announce that God told him someone in the room was going to try to kill himself?
He thought, what happens if its a false alarm and I look silly in front of a large crowd of people?
I know what Im supposed to do, but Im trying to question myself because thats a big step, Carr said. Thats a lot of obedience to step out there and do that.
Then the football player mustered up some courage and interrupted the pastor, grabbing his microphone.

It takes a lot of courage and character to set yourself up to be Tebowed.
You have to admit the voice was right, though.
Most likely a very strong feeling, not an actual voice.
Praise God.
Three suicidals and their families are glad Derek Carr isn’t fearful or leery. Courageous Christians are a rare breed. I know I am not so courageous, but stories like this remind me that I should try. Isn’t it funny, I am ex-army and I would willingly take a bullet for someone to save their life, but I find it hard to speak up to save a person from the ultimate suffering.
A gut feeling.
A gut feeling.
If nothing else the setting of that religious service was conducive to a great deal of emotional catharsis and human bonding. Whether those people were really suicidal and whether the experience was long term beneficial is unknown. However it did take a lot of courage for Carr to speak publicly in that manner. Much of America is neo pagan and will mock and ridicule him. Many will cite his behavior as a result of the brain damage that football players experience. Yet most of his teammates will be inspired and will play hard for him.
Be careful Derek, expressing too much faith and ESPN will give you the full Tebow treatment.
[As clear as day, the Holy Spirit tells me ...”]
1 CORINTHIANS 12:8
To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.
WORDS of KNOWLEDGE are a gift from HOLY SPIRIT. I had a similar experience concerning a family member. The SPIRIT told me “Pray for .....” Sure enough, I found I was interceding for a crisis.
Gifts of the SPIRIT are given to believers to help others.
At least 3 people are alive today, in spite of your doubt.
If you’ve never had it happen to you, it’s tough to understand.
Imagine someone whispering directly to your ear. And then you look around and no one is there.
You can hear His voice if you know how to listen.
Some of them lead their nation to victory in spite of their stupid and wimpy king ...
Only if he sucked as a player like Tebow. This guy might be ok cuz he is good.
It takes a lot of courage to say they heard the voice of God and then do good. Usually people say God told them to hurt someone, which in my opinion is not God but Satan. To say you heard God speaking to you takes courage knowing that you will be ridiculed. However, does not the Bible have numerous scripture of God speaking to people - either directly or in dreams. Was Moses insane? Was Joseph insane to listen to God when spoken to in a dream? I believe there has been a couple times when God has spoken to me in a dream. And I clearly remember one time - shortly after my wife passed away - that I woke from a deep sleep because someone called my name. I heard it clear as a bell. So yes, I believe God does speak to us - either directly or in dreams.
Recently my wife was about to turn left when the light turned green and at the moment it turned green she sensed the Loord say don’t go.....in the blink of an eye a truck came flying thru the red light. Could have been instant death had she not obeyed.
I understand. When my brother had finished major heart surgery he had a dream (”vision”) of a man sitting in the corner of his room, telling wires to disconnect from my brother’s body. One by one wires and tubes were removed (some were in his stomach, and my brother had no idea they were there until he woke up and checked). But one was left. “Your no going to remove the one in the back of my neck?” my brother asked. The man said, “No, if I remove that one you will die - that is my line to you.”
This was a new thought to me - that God is hard-wired into our brain. Thus, he can read and write (and erase) as He sees fit. So I have become much more aware of God’s presence and access when I pray. I do not hear voices (I know others who have), but I do get new thoughts/ideas/insights while I pray, and now I give God the credit. I am becoming much more acceptable of God’s continual presence in my life - it changes everything.
