Trump’s problem in the coming months will be his new Democrat FBI director. The democrats loved him for a reason. He’s one of them. The clueless republicans never asked him any probing questions, The Dems gushed over him. Mark my words Trump will regret the day he ever layed eyes on his.

CNN is already saying Trump is scared of Kelly so they’ll report this story all day tomorrow as proof that Kelly will do what feels like doing and Trump is basically his bitch.

according to two people familiar with the call. The people demanded anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about a private conversation.

Never even read the first reply.

Now it will be harder to oppose him.

I hope you are correct but I fear the most likely result is to make it more difficult to get well qualified individuals to accept high level positions in the administration.

Well. I believe them. That is why Trump is so upset about the leaks. If they were fake or just made up, he wouldn't care.

Besides, these are the kind of leaks that have been going on for centuries - conversations between people are never just those two. They all have aides and aides of aides participating and listening.

Did she take the carnation that was on her lapel and place it in his hanky pocket, and give him a kiss on the cheeks?

NeverTrumper...how does this reflect poorly on Trump? I have to assume then that you believe Trump is going to fire Sessions. Why do you think that?

Well, Sessions isn’t going anywhere. Personally handpicked by Trump. Deal with it.

Because no one cares about the VP. Cruel, but true. He doesn’t make the decisions and does not have a staff of over 500 working for him at the White House and the Old Executive Office Building next door.

Likely Sessions leaked this to reinforce his job.

You don’t understand the role of Chief of Staff.

Rience Priebus didn’t possess the authority to hire or fire Jeff Sessions and neither does John Kelly. The US Attorney General is not “staff.”

Former chief of staff can’t be the leaker, so who is leaking? Kelly? Sessions?

A Chief of Staff is number two at the White House. That is how a well run White House works. The Chief of Staff runs the show and tells the President what his day is and who gets to see the president. That is how a well run White House works. When the Transportation Secy wants to see the president, the Chief of Staff says not today or this week. We will make an appointment in the future. Often, the Chief of Staff will let a cabinet secretary know they need to resign among a bunch of other things.

That is why the Chief of Staff is so important, mainly because he dictates who gets to see the president and talk to the president.

It appears to me that Trump now understands this and has given Kelly complete control as proven by the firing of Scaramucci. Kelly runs the show now.

You keep saying that, and I’ll keep replying that the White House Chief Of Staff does not hire nor fire the US Attorney General.

A secretary in most companies controls access to the boss, but she or he doesn’t hire or fire anyone.

To further explain, I never claimed the Chief of Staff hired or fired. The Chief of Staff is the president's closest adviser. He knows what the president is thinking. He knows what he likes and dislikes.

He is in more meetings with the president than anyone else. If not participating, he is watching and listening. He guards the door of the president. That is why he is so powerful. The Chief of Staff decides who gets to see the President and what he sees. Cabinet Secretaries will give the Chief of Staff a report/summary of something/policy paper. The Chief of Staff decides if it will make it to the President's desk. Often it does not because the President's time is limited and should be focused on the most important things.

History shows the Chief of Staff is often the one who brings bad news to others. They don't come from the President. Often, the Chief of Staff will call up a department secretary and let them know their time in Washington is over and that the President appreciated their service. Of course, the President made the decision, but the Chief of Staff carries it out. It is also not unusual that the Chief of Staff helps to persuade the president of what he should do.

This is why every partisan in Washington cares who is the Chief of Staff. There is always hand wringing when the Chief of Staff is perceived to be not as conservative or as liberal as the President and then the stories come out will the Chief of Staff thwart the President's agenda.

If you look back in history, you will see cabinet meetings are rare. And most of those are just pro forma for the cameras. Obama would go years between cabinet meetings which is the norm for modern presidents and the reason is, is that policy and other decisions are made at the White House. The cabinet secretaries merely carry out what they are told to do. The power is in the White House, as it should be.

I am sure you have read how upset Tillerson is at the State Department. Perhaps, it is understandable, but he did not understand the modern presidency. The White House is the one who hired/appointed his undersecretaries and others. The White House overruled his choices and has overruled some of his policy decisions. For whatever reason, he believed he would be able to make his own decisions, but he can't. On paper, documents need the signatures of the secretaries, but the real power and the decision making is in the White House, usually by aides trusted by the President to do the right thing and who have the President's interest first. Those aides all report to the Chief of Staff and that is why the Chief of Staff is important. I could go on and on, but there are tons of books out there.

Obviously, the Pres needs Secretaries who believe in him and help sell his policies to the public. Hopefully, they are articulate and can testify in Congress about pending legislation and be his advocate. A good secretary can be influential, but you would be surprised how little a president sees his cabinet members other than State, Justice and Treasury.

Okay, Jeff. Keep after MS-13 and Sanctuary cities. Behind the scenes build the case against the leakers and against Hillary and her gang.
