It seems like the beef the cops have is that this guy didn't have a possession license. Otherwise unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unauthorized, and possession for the purpose of trafficking do not come into play.
This is not as cut and dried as you might think. I would be surprised if Mr. Munroe has a clean record and didn't know the home invaders. The cops are taking advantage of this situation to throw the book at him and put him away. The extra firearms charges are just icing.

Seriously, F’ you, Canada (apologies to any decent Canadians/FReepers)....You’ve lived rent free in Daddy’s attic, never having to actually lift a finger (or burden your budget) defending your country because NO ONE would dare attack because of your proximity to the US and you reward civilization by enacting Draconian speech laws and restricting a good peoples’ freedoms on a regular basis.
I’d give anything to see President Trump (symbolically) hand a BILL for services rendered to that punk Trudeau, mutter “you’re welcome” then walk away (doing the Vince McMahon power walk of course).
