You missed my point completely. If robbing banks were easy every bank would be robbed. Increased supply creates its own market. Millions are hooked on opiates today who would not be if the supply were unavailable.
The government’s primary job is to secure the blessings of liberty. Opiates are not a blessing for the millions addicted.
The argument for personal reponsibility ignores the social implications of unfettered illegal trade. It is the same argument that results in Islamic invasions of European cultures. There is no stomach for government authority used to restrict the flow of immigrants (read: drugs) sufficient to substantially protect the culture. That is the government’s job. It is why we have government.
