CIA Director Mike Pompeo: 'This organization is going to be in the business of stealing secrets'

The following are excerpts of an interview with CIA Director Mike Pompeo by Bill Gertz, Washington Free Beacon senior editor and veteran national security reporter.
Bill Gertz: Tell me about your first six months at CIA.
CIA Director Mike Pompeo: The agency is frankly in a place where it's got great people out there doing the right thing, and the good news is we've got a president who's going to let them go do it. More than let them, he's going to demand that [the agency] give them the authority and capacity to take on those challenges in a way that is in the deepest traditions of what the CIA has done when it was at its best, when it was at its high points throughout its decades of service to the country.
The president—I'm with him often—turns to us for questions that are broad and complex, and is looking for answers and for our capacity to deliver them to him and to other senior leaders in government.
And so when you say, "Mr. President we've got work to do on that one," he says: "What do you need to go get it done?" And he has been willing to give us the scope and the authority to go do it and I know they'll hold us accountable too.

I’m concerned about Obama holdover “sleeper agents” undermining the Trump agenda.
So, to summarize, the institutions that helped to make America a strong and powerful nation are under president Trump, going to return to making America strong and powerful.
Stealing secrets like the Russians did?
Yes....steal them.
Just remind the staff at the CIA where the boundary lines are.
Remind “journalists” that blabbing secrets have consequences.
Thank God for our covert operatives. May their missions be successful and may they come home safe.
Say a prayer for the families too. They live under a special kind of stress when their “soldier” goes off to war and they can’t even tell anyone where he is.
So far, it seems that all of President Trump's cabinet heads are working out well, regardless of what the lying press says.

I want only one sweeping change in the CIA: focus on spying on people and institutions outside the USA and stop this infernal spying on US citizens and institutions. I’m appalled at this 24/7 unconstitutional illegal search and am ashamed most people are ok with it. The FBI should focus on identifying criminals and do so the old fashioned way: warrants. Hate that there is so little opposition. Anything to be “safe” I guess. We have become sheep.
And Pompeo’s big concern is going after Assange and Snowden for giving up the CIA’s strategic advantage of endless and illegal spying on US citizens. Anyone that thinks he’s doing a ‘good job’ simply isn’t paying attention.
Right. Great point. This is how we treat people who defend the Constitution like Snowden. Treat them like criminals. Would like to see more Constitutionally-minded Republicans here on FR and elsewhere.
Send them all abroad so they can do their jobs on foreigners and leave us, and Trump, alone.
The CIA, FBI, NSA, DHS, etc... all proclaim to want to serve their country and protect us but have continuously lied to us and screwed us over coming and going, breaking one law after another with no regard whatsoever. I kept hearing about all these America loving FBI agents who were going to walk en mass or openly protest if Hillary wasn’t prosecuted-—still waiting...
This slew of agencies along with the IRS make up the fourth branch of government and as they are currently constituted are every bit as big a danger to the freedoms and rule of law in this country and it’s existence as our out in the open enemies. They flout the laws of the country and promote themselves and their agencies at the expense of the country and continually screw up with no consequences.
Until I see some real change they are to be considered lying whenever their mouths move and treated like Reagan treated the Soviets, trust be verify. They brought this on themselves by forgetting their oaths and their missions.
