I did so over 15 years ago and have never regretted it.
In the 20th century, about 100 million people were slaughtered by their own politicians.
Those politicians were not Conservatives.
Because they are filled with hate. Hate enough to go to a baseball field and attack Republicans there.
In the past I’ve had to argue with leftist that needing safe spaces etc free from disagreeing voices (or even just people of the wrong color) and complaining in a place where people might disagree with you are not one and the same.
Yet it keeps popping up in conversations about snowflakes as time and again the left may see mere complaining in forums where disagreements are heard, even welcomed, as somehow snowflakeish.
Against this I’ve had to ask (here I’m quoting an actual past exchange):
“You talk of righties complaining. I talk about lefties bawling their eyes out while seeking safe spaces safe from dissent.
“Now, there are lefties who only complain, lots and lots of them, but I’m not talking about them.
“But where, pray tell, were all the uncontrollably sobbing right wing masses when Obama was reelected. Where were the guys so distraught that they needed safe spaces and it was reported in the news?
“I’m not talking about being upset, I’m talking about things like being grief stricken.
“Did we hear of college campuses excusing conservatives because they just couldn’t go on the day after election in 2012? Were there offers of counselling?
“And more importantly for the distinction: were those conservatives who might have been truly devastated (as opposed to mere disappointment or being upset) in 2012 acting out, were they taking their tears public, on the road and getting noticed?”
The type of snowflake that runs riot (to their safe spaces and Binkys) on campuses all across the land is most certainly a leftist thing. Excessive fragility, what I’ve termed a “type 1” snowflake, is their hallmark.
Though not the only one. Another is the ability to be offended by proxy.
If this sounds a strange notion, well, it is.
Years ago in the comic strip Bloom County there was a Sunday strip that began, IIRC, with Opus sitting on a park bench eating pistachio nut ice a cream. Someone quite unbidden popped up and said something about that offended them. In response more people popped up saying what offended them. In the next to last panel all these broke the 4th wall and announced: “OMG, life is offensive!” before running away into the sunset.
Whereupon Opus sagely opined: “Offendsensitivity.”
Snowflakes have Offendsensitivity ... and I would say being offendsensitive is the major prerequisite to being a “Snowflake” in the first place. This leads into the idea that they have the capacity to be offended by proxy, which is to say that they are often offended by things they think other people (who subscribe to the same narrative of offensive things) would be offended by based on some fact about them ... and so they take offense too.
Indeed, I will go so far as to say that a person who cannot be easily offended by proxy as described above may not even be a full blown Snowflake.
So a snowflake isn’t just set off by things that offend them personally but by things they think ought to offend, and so straight white males often rant even more passionately about white privilege, feminism and what have you than many black persons or feminist (etc) do,
Finally I would say that all snowflakes fashion themselves on the right side of History ... that’s “History” as some grand narrative being fulfilled rather than mere history as whatever actually happened. This “narrative” may seem open ended (as indeed with the American left History is all too often just what they seem to be doing at the moment) but it is really a closed issue for proper snowflakes and to even question that they are on the right side of History only proves that you are on the wrong side of History.
They are right, just ask them, and that’s all they need to know. In the past their ideological predecessors were not as right as they were, and maybe they will allow that they are not as pure and right as the future THEM will be, but they confess who is on the right path and therefore who is not.
My gripe isn’t that “History” is a bad idea so much as their idea of “History” on the left in this country has been basically fed them by the cultural Marxist, whom they often dispute as having any influence at all (I’ve likened this to a forest dweller not believing in forests ... so much of what they have is directly from the Frankfurt School that they couldn’t exist as they are without it and yet being the mere creatures of that school, it’s creations through maleducation, they usually seem oblivious to it).
So Type 1 snowflakes are part of the destruction of our civilization, or nation, and our society and that is part of their “right side of History”.
THAT is my gripe about their so-called History!
It’s why they meander from cause to cause, manipulated and manipulating by and for the old school cultural Marxist, homosexual advocates, Islam, and now the insane (or genderism and other such nonsense) growing worse with each passing emote and Binky hunt.
Now, briefly about the two main types of snowflakes.
A Type 1, as already mentioned, is the fragile sort that silences you because of your many microaggressions. They want to be free of knowing about you at all if they can manage it. But their response is to be pathetic, to retreat, to run away more to where they think they have numbers to lock you out. Make no mistake that they want to lock you out EVERYWHERE ... all so you don’t hurt their widdle fewwings ... and they will if they ever get the chance. They would use the government lock us in Gulags if they could, for our own good and reeducation of course.
I call them “Godwin’s Step-children” for everything they rail against is ultimately Nazi-like. How could it be otherwise?
Thus you may have seen me inquire “what is left of the old extreme left that is still considered extreme by the left anymore?”
This reflects not the left being the domain of “Snowflakes”, for there are LOTS of lefties who are not Snowflakes, but that the left in this country judges themselves, and the “center” as they imagine it, by themselves.
In short, Type 1 Snowflakes even cause more manly leftist, often infected with less virulent strains of the same disease to be sure, to face palm in embarrassment. Still the Type 1s are the ragged bleeding edge of the left and they are leading the way (when I say “more manly” I don’t mean to imply that they usually have the will to politically resist the madness that is consuming the left even if they aren’t presently NVTS themselves).
Against that odd combination of passive-aggressive touchy feely there is the other type of snowflake: the Type 2.
A Type 2 can arise from a Type 1, it is true, but most often that start and end as their own thing.
A Type 2 is instead characterized by a supremacist notion of their rightness and what sets them off is you not being sufficiently under their boot.
Islam is a prime example of a force that creates Type 2 Snowflakes. Are you not under Sharia law? Do you think your nation should have its own laws? Well, that is a “grievance” and for it they will do things to you.
Communist are the same: not under communism? Well you are on the wrong side of History my friend.
A Type 2 comes proverbially makes their own gravy, they supply their own grievance, ready made, to aim them at the enemy. They are not content to wait to be offended and in the meantime drive to exclude from and expand their safe spaces. They don’t retreat looking for hugs, they swing bike locks, riot, set off bombs, and engage in terrorism. One cartoon and functionally illiterate peasants half a world away will suddenly appear in photo ops with professionally made signs in English.
That’s what Type 2s are.
Or, if you will, a Type 2 is like the cultural Marxist proper (those still knowingly trying to bring down a civilization) while Type 1s are the mere creatures the cultural Marxists create to cause that collapse.
When your core belief is that anyone who doesn’t agree with you is stupid, insane, evil or all three it doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for tolerance.
Those who distrust private citizens with wealth and power but who trust unaccountable government officials with boundless power (over anything that isn’t sex or what helps there to be more sex without consequences) and endless supplies of other people’s money to go along with it ... otherwise known as Democrats.
Just shows me conservatives are too tolerant.
You might just be more benevolent than some of your peers. After observing their behavior since the 1980’s, I firmly believe in blacklisting leftists in every aspect of my life. Hell, I’d spend my spare time shooting the bastards if it were lawful.

I know this makes many feel better about themselves but in reality this is why we’ve been an utter and complete fail in fighting the culture war. This is why the left has been so horribly successful over the decades.

this election made it a lot easier to tell the two apart. don't waste the time of day on it. Spend your time and energy on promoting the good and the true and associating with the good and the true. - The more we build that up , the further into the darkness and into oblivion the Swampers will sink.
The Swampers/liberals/darkness have no power source. They must depend on being able to suck energy from us. If they can't engage us - they will sink into oblivion.
