Never went to law school, self taught, and although was admitted to the Ill bar and worked as a lawyer, he would not even be considered as a lawyer by todays standard.
Lincoln was a politician, matter of fact, he was a particular dirty politician.

Thanks for the explanation.....we have open primaries in Wisconsin as well....never quite understood the rationale behind the open primary rule, but I would wager it was a concept developed by the left.

Nope. I was just showing you that the method Mr. Lincoln used to become a lawyer was still in use much more recently than the 19th Century, since you implied he wouldn’t be considered a “real” lawyer today. Whether Mr. Chader (the Slater attorney) ever held office is immaterial. You’re trying to mix apples and oranges.
