The Anomaly of the Dragon in the Revelation 12 Sign 9/23
YouTube ^ | July 21, 2017 | "Lewey777"

This is a well prepared and thoughtful YouTube analysis of the Rev.12 "heavenly sign" connected with 12:4(b) "and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered . . ."

The beginning two verses of this chapter have been covered quite extensively for the last six years. Scottie Clarke using Stellarium in 2011 discovered the constellation alignment. Since then a small portion of the pre-trib rapturists accept it and a larger portion of the dispensationalists don't (reject the interpretation as "date setting.")The Presbyterians and Lutherans (Reformed Theology) pretty much eschew most end-time teaching.

What can explain the peculiar obscuring of this part of the night sky by NASA and Stellarium?

I have several articles about Revelation (Who Was the Beast, What Is the Central Theme of Revelation, etc) here:

I have seen other interpretations based on constellations, but I do have this one question:

We know that different cultures/civilizations in the Northern Hemisphere--- Egyptian, Babylonian, Roman, Greek, Aztec, Maya, Druid, Hittite, Assyrian, Chinese, Tibetian, Minoan, Phoenician, etc. - at different times mapped out constellations using different groups/ sets of stars, connecting the dots in different ways, and giving them different names.

Is there any proof that Hebrew/Aramaic Biblical writers mapped and named the constellations in accordance with the late-antiquity Roman model alluded to here?

There are ‘a few’ errors in your assertions ...

The apostle only mentions the description, not he name of the constellation. The Hebrew name in the Mazzaroth for Virgo is Bethulah.

It would not be considered a 'proof' but the wise men used the alignment of the stars to understand a king was being born to the Hebrew peoples, and they traveled from the East to find that child.

If someone is determined to reject a coming Rapture of the body of Christ believers, any niggle will do.

I was wondering that, too. Would John have known of Virgo? Or, especially, Leo.

John simply calls it a “heavenly sign” of a woman — not Bethulah or Virgo. Since Virgo?Bethulah is the only woman constellation, the analysis has simply referred to it by name

I enjoy hearing input on the End Times and think it important that we all prepare regardless; thank you for your post.

And by the way (if you did not already know), October 11th is the Feast of the Motherhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary!

http://acatholiclife.blogspot.com/2016/10/the-feast-of-motherhood-of-blessed.html

Also I was reading several prophecies at the following link and while I originally hesitated to give the link as they follow Maria Divine Mercy, and her apparitions have not been approved by the Church, there are several [approved] prophecies from others that are very interesting.

Check out, for instance, “The Prophecy of St. Nilus, 5th Century,” and also prophecies from the great Fulton Sheen, St. Francis of Assisi, and others.

I didn’t know that. Thank you for this info.

Are you speaking of Revelation 12? Permit me one more question. The only plausible constellation mentioned would seem to be the crown of 12 stars. Is there such a constellation (12 stars forming a circle or disc) in the Hebrew or any contemporaneous constellation mapping system? Because I have never heard of a 12- star disc. Of course, there’s a lot of things I have never heard of!!

There are the nine prominent and permanent stars in Leo which is above the head of Virgo. On the 23rd you have the planets Mars, Venus, and Mercury that have joined in Leo. This happens once every eighty years. However, John described the “heavenly sign” further by saying that the moon was near her feet and it had the sun. The speculation of “being clothed with the sun” is that the constellation occurs during the daylight hours when the sun is brightest. John also mentioned that the “heavenly sign” was with child and was in anguish to be delivered. This is another thing which is interesting. In what would be considered the womb or abdomen of Virgo the planet Jupiter stays in retrograde motion for the length of a long gestation period, 52 weeks.

The 9 stars + 3 planets do make an interesting 12. Thanks for this info.

quote-I was wondering that, too. Would John have known of Virgo? Or, especially, Leo.

Excellenece, There is also a man carrying a pitcher of water up there.
The world tends to call that one aquarius.

That sign is found in the bible, too.

That was referenced in two of the gospels specifically. (Mark and Luke I believe- direct quotes from the Lamb)

Here’s the verses in Mark 14:13
Go into the city, and a ‘man carrying a pitcher of water’ (aquarius) will meet you, follow him.14and whichever house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’
And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared. there make ready for us.

His Creation tells His plan. His Creation tells His story.
Written in His sky before written on paper.

And He declares where we are in His Plan, above our heads. And does so greatly at His Feasts.

Is it any wonder the world sort of ignores those for other days, feasts, festivals?

Nope.

The secret things belong to Him, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever so that we may do all the words of this law.

And it’s all for His Glory!

One of the main problem with these stellar based interpretations of Scripture is that the names we use to refer to the constellations today weren’t necessarily what were used back then and even the ones that were were named by pagans. It’s doubtful (in my opinion) that God inspired the author of Revelation to use constellation names based on Roman pagan nomenclature.

For example, and to the point of this video, the constellation “Draco” was so named by Ptolemy (”draco” is Latin for dragon) in the second century, not the first, so 100 years after the Book of Revelation was written by St. John.

So did God inspire St. John to write about a constellation using a name that hadn’t even been ascribed to it yet and wouldn’t be for 100 years? Why? Or more accurately wouldn’t traditional, historical interpretations of the passage in question be more accurate (which have nothing to do with constellations rather are based on what the dragon represents).

I’ll stick with the latter. After all there’s still the whole date setting thing which is an issue despite any hand waving to the contrary.

Things like this, attempting to set dates or eras to His return are typically from and sold for people who are miserable in their life and wish to believe desperately that He will return soon to rescue such people from the life they find so unbearable. It’s telling though that such predictions come from and are appealing to people typically in first world western countries, people who aren’t suffering nearly as much as those in third world western, African or middle eastern countries, who never, or at most rarely, hold onto such desperate hope.

The Christians in such areas have a real hope in Christ which is that no matter how much this life is a trial, no matter how many hardships there are, their faith is that the hardship is all for a greater good both theirs and the world’s and ultimately for the Glory of God whom they love even more than their own life. So they are actually happy to have such suffering in their life. It’s a gift from God to them.

Those who ascribe to these kinds of fantasies would be well advised to beg the Lord for such a level of faith and abandon the false notion that His return is for their own personal benefit. His return in Glory is all about Him, not us, which is what our faith is supposed to be now.
