President Trump is seeking to radically remodel the State Department in an unprecedented way, according to former officials from administrations of both political parties.

The administration’s efforts, which include a proposed budget cut of nearly 30 percent, a hiring freeze and a potential reshuffling of offices within the State Department, have left scores of positions unfilled, demoralizing the staff that remain.

Past GOP presidents have also sought to cut the State Department down to size, and even current employees have acknowledged bureaucratic problems at Foggy Bottom.

But some former officials describe Trump’s efforts as something unseen before — a war of sorts on the State Department that if carried out would leave it hobbling.

Pres. Trump will not remake the State Department. At best he can force them to shut up for a few years. The Council on Foreign Relations is not going to lose its near-monopoly on State, Defense, and intelligence in one president’s terms. It will take a generation, or some kind of major conflagration.

THEN hose down anything that’s “left”; quench that all with CLOROX, let stand overnight, then hose that away.

Or maybe they learn to do more with less.

The plant I work at used to have 1600 permanent employees and several thousand temporary employees (special projects and construction).

Now the need to compete has winnowed us down to about 900 permanent employees and several hundred temporary employees.

And the plant actually runs better with less downtime.

I saw it firsthand, working on PSD team in Iraq, for these Anti-American Commies. For the most part, they hate America. But, there is one thing that they love about America. And that is.....

American taxpayer dollars to fund their lifestyles at their overseas postings, to give away to the 3rd world despots they fall in love with, their diplomatic immunity and ease traveling, the fact that they can use their postings to indulge in whatever lifestyle they choose to live.

When I was working political-military issues in the Pentagon back in the early 90s, and worked with DoS personnel, it was common knowledge and my direct experience that state dept personnel in an embassy somewhere viewed their role as an “honest broker” between the host country and the United States. They never unequivocally advocated, defended or supported the US position.

Drain the swamp.
