FBI has national arrest authority for counter-terrorism & center-intelligence.
The FBI was tracking this guy for over a year. I doubt his military chain of command were even aware of what was going on until he was apprehended from his off post apartment.
Some other soldiers are going to be seeing some hard time for not safeguarding government property. WTH, was he the armorer?
In the interest of accuracy, Schofield Barracks is not in Honolulu. It is located in central Oahu near Wahiawa, 20 miles from HNL
Pretty sure the image is not related to this case. Just another case of media clickbait hype.
Report: FBI Investigates More Than 100 Suspected Islamic Extremists Within U.S. Military
I believe you’re right on that pic, if I’d have suspected it I wouldn’t have posted it.
You didn’t bring home any toys like this...
Thanks for the information FRiends.
Surely you weren’t expecting a name like Bruce Smith or Phil Johnson.
I mean counter-intelligence!
Quite a few people in trouble if they actually did bring an M2 Browning home.
In Patton's day, the unit's senior NCOs would have been on top of this (think "health and welfare inspection") long before the FBI would have finished their first cup of coffee.
In the extremely unlikely event that the matter got this far, the unit commander would have had the senior NCOs lead one or more "counseling" sessions BEFORE turning the traitor over to the FBI (probably involving several flights of stairs and some quality time behind a remote building) and the senior NCOs would have provided a complete report on any others who might have been the slightest bit sympathetic to this traitor's cause, with detailed recommendations for individual remedial training.
The role of civilian law enforcement would have been to collect the no longer functional, soon to be former members of the military for long term storage and eventual disposal.
Harsh? Perhaps. But under Patton, the purpose of our military was to win wars by breaking things and killing people. Not conducting social experimentation.
Individual rights? We took them away on your first day of boot camp and if you were on perfect behavior, eventually gave them back one by one as privileges.
A “wood line attitude adjustment”?
