“I’m no military expert, I just don’t see any upside to taking action or NOT taking action against NK.”

Well, you can always shoot down the next missile that is launched, saying the missile was armed. Tell them that for any subsequent launches, we now have to assume they are arming missiles and not only will we shoot the next one down, but in retaliation we will launch one of our own.

Tough to respond to that. If Kim says there was no warhead, then he loses face in front of the world. Which means his next launch he will definitely arm a missile.

Question becomes, if Trump says this to Kim, will Trump keep his word? I wouldn’t bet against him.

Remember, we are talking about Trump AND Gen Mattis. These gentlemen are professionals not man-children like the other administration. Before the Trump Administration makes ANY move, they have a plan that is 3-4 steps ahead of the competition, be it CNN or Hillary or North Korea.

While many like to play up Gen Mattis as a war-monger, he is an incredibly well-read individual. He is a strategist AND a warrior.

So, for a moment, imagine the NK Leader eating with his generals. One of them drops dead. A few moments later, another one drops dead. Rinse and repeat over a week. Then, Kim Jong-un wakes from a bad night's sleep to this...

This is almost no different from the military head games Reagan ran around the Soviets in the early 1980s. It was brutally effective, without a shot being fired.

Yea, we will still get rhetoric from NK and his people remain under tyranny, but there will be NO more missle tests and NK is now neutralized.

I think THIS is more plausible that nukes.

Fatboy should go to sleep to find a hand grenade under his pillow with a note that says “Please be reasonable, first warning”

So wait till he launches the ICBM to take out most of Alaska, hope we can shoot it down and retaliate?

Tell that to Alaska.

And according to some experts, he can EMP our entire country and deliver the nerve gas to us at any port as well.

You and Neville would have gotten along well - ya think?

has been and continues to be that an attack with WMD on the US will be responded to with our WMD.

It will be good for LA or Alaska to know as they are dying enmasse that we will retaliate.

What a lot of freepers here, it seems, cannot grasp is the idea that just because we care about life - our enemies will happily give up theirs and their country for that matter to destroy us.

I read this over and over again...."But but but - he knows we will retaliate"

Read the definition of psychopath.

so what are you proposing then hero? A preemptive nuclear strike? or will another preemptive conventional war be sufficient? just like it was in Iraq. Some of us have been living with the threat of mutually assured destruction longer than others so we aren’t exactly terrified. Me personally, I just want to see this all turned into increased arms sales to our allies in the region. I am not losing a second of sleep over the “NK threat”.

After watching Nikki at the UN SC meeting yesterday, I am now filled with faith that we are gonna pull this off and do it well.

Her confidence in our choice to choose our own path was quite obvious.

That’s exactly what I think too.. but the aftermath is what concerns me. Best case scenario Berlin Wall.. the Norks get freedom.. but I was in West Germany when the wall came down. It was very difficult for the West German economy to absorb the East Germans.
Worst case scenario.. people who are controlled in every decision and live a life unimaginable to us cannot assimilate easily.
I think it will be political suicide if trump takes out Kim n co.. everything we have gained will be flushed. 2018 would be a return of the Dems.. is it worth it?
I still think the UN arranged all of this to get their money back. We are being played by world globalist.

what are you, a a scared little child? I have been living under the policy of mutually assured destruction for nearly five decades. and I’m still alive and well and completely unafraid.

."But but but - he knows we will retaliate"

The point is moot if he has enough nuke-tipped missiles. Then we are into MAD. He will have the power to take us out anytime he wants. They win, we lose.

Killing Kim J would only start the war, not prevent it.

There is no good answer. The best would be for China to handle it, but again, that would start the war, not prevent it.

If I lived in Seoul, I would be looking to leave for a bit.

I have this book called The Experts Speak.

Pretty amusing.

One of the quotes I posted here the other day was about a warning that 50 plus planes were headed to Hawaii at 180 mph per radar. And the LT. said it was nothing, to just ignore it as I recall.

It would be excellent but if it could be done, why have we not done it sooner?

It's not like our CIA hasn't been far more proactive in the past. We shall see.

Attacking China would be even more foolish than attacking the U.S.

China wouldn’t be phased one bit losing a few million people overrunning NK.

No, dogs being very slowly tortured to death, boiled alive, more, upsets me. And people who do this and think it is culinary art are not innocent.

The videos are there on you tube. I do understand this is not the view of most people. But I stand proudly with it nonetheless. They actually laugh at times as the dog screams in pain.

Not an enhancement for the planet. They can go.

“Americans and other Westerners who want their families to enjoy the blessings of life in a free society should understand that the life we've led since 1945 in the Western world is very rare in human history. Our children are unlikely to enjoy anything so placid, and may well spend their adult years in an ugly and savage world unless we decide that who and what we are is worth defending.” ― Mark Steyn, America Alone: The End of the World As We Know It

This book I highly recommend to you.

Seems like it all worked out pretty well for us in the end, didn’t it?

one more that fits well..
