The U.S. Supreme Court is set to rule on Monday in a closely watched religious rights case involving limits on public funding for churches and other religious entities as the justices issue the final rulings of their current term.
The nine justices are due to rule in six cases, not including their decision expected in the coming days on whether to take up President Donald Trump's bid to revive his ban on travelers from six predominantly Muslim countries in which an emergency appeal is pending.

In no case, should any public funds be spent to support any type of religion. The definition of “religion” is too wide to even comprehend!
We saw the results of Kennedy winning due to a religious connection to the Catholic church. Nuff said!
I think you nailed it. The pesky secular left wing will try to arm twist churches. Right wing could do it too but less likely. Either cheapens churches. Even bowing to tax breaks could be a problem. Though I think a gospel occupied church would be more concerned with appealing to officials to do right than with the less frequent act of voting.

Sharia law is unconstitutional. I wonder how they will rule when a case pertaining directly to that comes up.
The Reuters analysis of the Missouri religious freedom case is way off base and reveal the basic ignorance journalists have on religion. There is no conflict between the Establishment Clause and Freedom of Religion in this case. It involves whether a church run daycare is eligible for new material (provided through public grant money) for their playground which is used both by the school and the public. The daycare was in the top group of selected grantees when all criteria was weighed. The only reason they were denied is because of Missouri’s version of the Blaine Amendment. So the question before the court is, can government’s discriminate in their dispersal of government monies solely on the basis of the religious nature of the entity? Clearly a ruling in favor of the church will not establish a state church in Missouri.
A ruling against the church would however mean a continuation of discrimination against religious bodies in states where Blaine amendments are law. This ruling has more to do with school vouchers and private schools receiving money for providing certain services to other students. For example: A public school might not have enough qualified teachers for and after school program for deaf students so a local Catholic school agrees to provide space for those students in their program. The Catholic school receives funding for this service.
