A mother has been charged in the deaths of her two young children, after she allegedly left them in a hot car as punishment while she smoked pot and took a nap.

Cynthia Marie Randolph, 25, was charged Friday with two counts of first-degree injury to a child causing serious bodily injury in Weathorford, Texas after her kids were found dead May 26.

This is what happens with pot. You forget even the most important things.

It doesn't have to be illegal, but it does have to be exposed.

It kills the spirit and it kills those for whom one has responsibility.

If you left kids in a locked car in Massachusetts on May 26th, they’d be more likely to suffer from hypothermia. Seriouslys.

Don’t care that she’s a woman.

Want her and me in a locked room for 10 minutes.

Pot, alcohol or drugs are an excuse. Deep down inside they want freedom. Maybe they want freedom from the responsibilities of parenting. I hope she did not deliberately do this and use the “I’m a victim” excuse.

There was an episode of Dragnet where a mother was getting stoned and left her baby in the bathtub.

They just want to sit on their back porch, smoke pot and not bother nobody.

Not even the screaming kids in the hot car.

“So pot’s the harmless drug?”

We could compare the number of these cases to the number of people that killed kids while driving drunk.

Drugs are not an excuse, but they are an explanation.

Regular people become addicts...and then do things they would never do when sober.

I know folks who became addicts just because of back pain.

Pills and eventually heroin.

This is a real problem of modern life. We can fix this but we have to address it rationally. Knee jerk reactions will not work.

It's not the drug's fault. But is it the fault of the person who used the drug (increasingly becoming addicted to said drug, unaware of its potentially deadly effects)?

It's not a matter of blame but a matter of solutions.

Pot is not always deadly, but it certainly can be for some people.

Same for alcohol.

Many drink alcohol responsibly, but many also find their lives ruined by it.

The solution is not found in the application of a broad brush.

There is a solution, but it is a delicate matter.
