President Donald Trump has spent more taxpayer funds on White House furnishings in the first five months of his administration than his predecessor, Barack Obama, spent in the same span of time, it was reported on Friday.

American Bridge PAC, an organization which is 'committed to holding Republicans accountable for their words and actions,' obtained copies of federal procurement records through May 31, according to Mic.

The records show that in his first 150 days in office, Trump spent $133,053.95 on office furniture.

That's more than twice the amount that Obama spent in his first five months in office - $51,204.25.

The most notable purchase made by Trump was a $13,000 custom conference table from Kittinger Company.

Most of what I see changed is brightness of the picture, and 90 degree angle change.

Anyone talking about Obama taking Air Force One for his “personal” vacations plus accompanying aircraft? How much did that cost the taxpayers? Wasn’t he supposed to combine his trips with business?

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/white-house/article123335079.html

As America’s first family enjoys its eighth and final vacation in Hawaii, new estimates put the price tag of the Obamas’ annual trip at $3.5 million or more.

In total, the cost of the the first family’s personal or largely personal travel during the last eight years comes to $85 million – though that is likely to climb to $90 million after additional records are released, according to the conservative group Judicial Watch based on federal government records.

The cost of Air Force One and other government planes as well as helicopters, cargo planes, armored cars, Secret Service protection and advance, communications and medical staff has led Judicial Watch to push for less personal travel.

“The Secret Service and the Air Force are being abused by unnecessary travel,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said. “Unnecessary presidential travel for fundraising and luxury vacations on the taxpayers’ dime would be a good target for reform for the incoming Trump administration.”

President-elect Donald Trump prefers to vacation at his own properties. He is spending Christmas at Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, where he stayed for Thanksgiving. After the election, he spent a weekend at Bedminster golf

What changed is that it used to be a beautiful Federal room, in which the furnishings and paintings reflected American history. In this "redo", the carpet if African-style design, looks like it came from Walmart, the paintings are modern abstract crap, and the red drapes are, again, the Obama's favorite earthy-orangey Kenyan color instead of the clear red or maroon shades associated with the rest of the White House and American tradition. None of the "improvements" harmonize remotely well with the Federal style gold leaf mirror frame, the regency sideboards and the crystal chandelier.

I'm not faulting them for wanting some African-American influence somewhere. But it could have been done much more artfully and coherently in a room that could have been entirely furnished with African-American HISTORIC influences, which abound in museums in the south, in Annapolis Maryland and so forth. Instead, she just made a confused mess of jarring styles having little or no relation to one another.

Well, when you actually do work at the WH, it does take money to staff up and get the place humming. On the other hand, when all you do is put your feet up on the desk and yak on the phone, who needs money for equipment and furnishings? Better spent on golf...with big liberal donors teeing up with you.

Just like the “designers” did with most of the Mooch’s wardrobe.

From your link I grabbed this title:
Michelle Obama Unveils $600K Updates to White House State Dining Room

Imagine - they had horrible taste. Remember the “Christmas Decorations?” So all that money spent on making the White House look less presidential. What a shame.

Thanks for the pics. The last one shows “wall art” that resembles the ‘halo’ the MSM used when photographing Obama. So if Obama sits at the head of the table, then there’s a ‘halo’ over his head. What’s that you say? The halo would be too high above his head? Nonsense, those seated at the table should see, via line-of-sight, a colorful halo right behind his head. :)

He probably had to replace all the prayer rugs and mirrors in Obamie’s play pen and get rid of the crotch cups and mirrors in Michelle/Michael’s playpen.

That might be so but we are making up for it when Trump doesn’t take a salary, of which I think he should take.

Obama was a low-class leech.

If there was any silverware left on January 20th, 2017, I’d almost be shocked.

This isn’t related to race either. The guy was just a low class individual. I considered the Carters to be cut from the same cloth so to speak.

Obama that he was class personified. No, he was crass personified. He misunderstood.

He did take one. He donated the first quarter salary to the National Park Service. Pretty classy IMO.

He probably needed new furniture because of all the bedbugs and crab lice left in Obama’s stuff.

“”Trump spent $133,053.95 on office furniture.””

I would say there is a big difference between WH furnishings and office furniture!!!! After that creep obozo put his feet all over the Oval office furniture and probably every other piece of furniture there, I’m sure it all needed replacing..
