Radioactive Waste Found on Maersk’s FPSO, Scrapping Stopped (George Webb connects the dots)

Full Title:

Bangladesh: Radioactive Waste Found on Maersk’s FPSO, Scrapping Stopped North Sea Producer; Image Courtesy: Odebrecht

North Sea Producer, previously owned by Maersk, left the UK in May 2016 and was towed to Bangladesh, where it arrived on 14 August 2016, only to be beached two days later at the Janata Steel shipbreaking yard in Chittagong.

The NGO Shipbreaking Platform said back in October 2016 that the vessel likely contained large amounts of highly contaminated residues including natural occurring radioactive material (NORM).

Bangladeshi shipbreaking yards are not equipped with any infrastructure that could safely remove and dispose of such toxic wastes.

As disclosed by Maersk at the time, the ship was sold for further operational use, without revealing the identity of the buyer.

“The Producer was sold by Maersk to cash buyers GMS. It is obvious that Maersk knew that the ship would end up being scrapped on a South Asian beach putting both workers and the environment at risk. We have called upon the UK to hold both Maersk and GMS accountable for the illegal export of this toxic laden ship. The case is very indicative of the dodgy practice of selling ships for scrap via middle men known as cash buyers,Ingvild Jenssen, Director of the NGO Shipbreaking said.

According to the platform, the North Sea Producer was allowed into Bangladesh based on a fake certificate stating that the tanker did not contain any hazardous materials.

“A false declaration dated 3 August, 2016 was submitted to the Bangladesh authorities by the St Kitts and Nevis based post box company called Conquistador Shipping Corporation set up by cash buyers Global Marketing Systems (GMS). The Bangladesh Department of Environment however never issued environmental clearance in favor of breaking of the vessel,” the platform added.

The vessel was owned and operated by UK-based North Sea Production Company, a joint venture between Danish Maersk and Brazilian oil & gas company Odebrecht, with 50% ownership each, and operated in the North Sea as an FPSO.

Maersk is yet to reply to World Maritime News on the matter.

BTW, Webb claims McClatchy News confirmed his story about the ‘radioactive diplomatic containers’ aboard the shit.

Complete BS:

Here is the real McClatchy story. (if you doubt it’s a real story, click the link at the bottom of the story. Webb is so much BS!)

No problem on ship at after threat claim at Charleston port
The Associated Press

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C.

A person who raised alarms about a possible “dirty bomb” on a container ship approaching the port of Charleston in South Carolina was being questioned Thursday after searches found nothing dangerous.

Coast Guard Lt. James Zorn said the Charleston office received a telephone call about a “dirty bomb” aboard the Maersk Memphis container ship around 8 p.m. Wednesday. The ship docked about a half-hour later.

Zorn said the Coast Guard contacted other federal, state and local agencies and set up a unified command that ordered the evacuation of the Wando Terminal of the South Carolina State Ports Authority in Mount Pleasant and set up a 1-mile safety zone around the dock on the Cooper River.

A “dirty bomb” is not a traditional nuclear weapon, but an explosive device containing radioactive or radiation-polluted material. By 3:30 a.m. Thursday, officials had scanned four suspect containers aboard the ship and determined there was no danger.

Zorn said the four “diplomatic” containers were searched based on intelligence gathered and information from the caller. He did not have other information on those containers, referring questions about them to the FBI.

FBI spokesman Don Wood in Columbia said he could not talk about the containers. He also would not provide details on the person being questioned or any possible charges.

The terminal was allowed to resume normal operations. No injuries were reported.

“There was an important article written by a great journalist about the Gulftainer Corporation which is this UAE corporation that manages all these ports in the U.S. Port Canaveral, I think of being the first one. The article basically says, ‘What could possibly go wrong?’(Center for Security Policy). The article cites that not only the UAE managing US ports, but one of the key individuals is the chief nuclear scientist for Iran [see image of pdf report

George mentions those details in his Youtube I have linked at post #2..and there are more details on the follow on youtube that follows day 238.1 with some ideas as to how his “staff” on “cloud source the truth” could find some deetais and pit together a possible presentation.

what dots? more rabbit chasing, trying to find a cover story for creating a national incident out of a nothing story from last year.

The NGO Shipbreaking Platform said back in October 2016 that the vessel **likely** contained large amounts of highly contaminated residues including *****natural occurring**** radioactive material (NORM).

The radioactive substances ****accumulated over the years of processing crude oil**** were found in inside pipes

nice try but not even close to a dirty bomb, Georgie

Natural radioactivity and trace metals in crude oils: implication for health.

I didn’t say he did. His originality is limited to reselling old news in shiny packages with strings to nowhere. And I doubt he could hold a thought long enough to even write an article from the nauseating research of him this last 24 hours.

What I said was, what he’s doing is trying to tie an old article about oil pipes in old tankers into a justifiable reason why he created a national incident. Because that ‘person with credentials’ that ‘would step forward’ to back him up on the intel about a dirty bomb on the Mearsk - also appears to have a batting average of zero - and seems to be MIA.

Georgie set the hook that morning, suggesting ‘a lot of talk’ about a dirty bomb across the Mexican border. And as soon as a caller mentioned diplomatic pouches or ships, he jumped on that like a porterhouse steak as any good timeshare salesman would. Before he started his CYA strategic periodic disappearing acts during Jason’s meltdown, and before announcing three times he was in Zainsville, we went from Mexico to a bomb in Memphis, to Charleston, to Ft. Sumpter would be symbolic because it would ‘start the 2nd Civil War” (how so, if a foreign entity attacked all of us?), to, Norfolk special forces port as the target, to nuclear waste is being shipped into Norfolk for routine dumping in the Savannah River. And, after a disappearance, we’re back to Charleston but he’s oh-so-detached now. Disappearing again, then coming back like not a thing in the world was happening and talking about something completely disconnected — oh, and he knew about the Senator going to be shot, too. Fancy that. Something’s happening at the port? whatever could that be? He never mentioned a dirty bomb, says he to the Coast Guard. Jason talks about the ship 8 minutes out, and Georgie launches into some off the wall explanation of how many degrees in a ships wheel and comes up with 12 degrees out of port somehow. It gives me a headache to listen to him.

And the reason he insisted his little operation be called, “Clear and Present Danger”? “you lose your first amendment rights” (that’s a direct quote I kid you not). Now what legitimate researcher actually wants people to lose their rights?

This nutcase just cost us millions of dollars shutting down a port because Jason and he had some sort of hangup on being accused of ‘mispresence’. Jason used that word as justification half a dozen times for asking his frightened little sheep to tweet everyone under the universe about an imaginary dirty bomb - without regard of the blowback on those individuals. Both are guilty of exploiting the impressionable, and feeding the psycho Bernieheads who see a conspiracy around every corner and who seem to comprise the larger part of their audience, in search of a guru to tell them everything wrapped with a nice little bow instead of relying on their own brains.

(And just for good measure, what idiot refuses a breathalyzer if they’re sober, knowing they’ll forfeit their DL if they do? When his entire life apparently now revolves around driving up and down the country ‘investigating. He’ll be back in court in July for that, btw.)

here’s the word for word quote on Clear and present. Just in the interest of not wanting to be misleading or anything:

2:18:19 - “Well this goes back to a Clear and Present Danger and that’s why We called it this. Your rights can basically can be superceded, at least your first Amendment, when there’s a Clear and Present danger.”

[and why declare a state of Clear and Present Danger?]: “I’m not saying I want a meeting with my conspiracy theorist friends”....[I want] “to trigger a meeting of the joint chiefs of staff” [with me and my credentialed friend]

51:45 “Clear and present danger is a doctrine that says you must weigh the danger with the source. If the source has evil, shown to be an evil source, that reduces the probability of the source, the credibility of the source. But you also must consider on the other side of the scale the gravity of the threat. So even if a very incredulous source, not nearly as well credentialed as this guy, this guy has credentials that he can present in Congress, that we will present.
So I’m not saying I want a meeting with my conspiracy theorist friends, I’m talking about an credentialed individual that’s saved 2,000 lives in a terrorist incident. That’s documented. Ok? So this isn’t someone without credentials, to go to congress, present his credentials and then call and trigger a meeting of the joint chiefs of staff....”

I am all for a federal law that would ban foreign ownership or operation of ANY facility deemed by the U.S. government as “significantly important national infrastructure”, and such law to include, in the law, ALL U.S. ports from which international trade occurs.
