“We Have a Divide in America That Does Not Seem Surmountable”

It’s been rather obvious for a while.

The big question now is this. If the divide is insurmountable, then what’s next? What do we do about it?

One option is for us to start encouraging the peaceful, political split up of the country. California and other ultra lib states want to secede and so does Texas and other conservative states.

Why not start a negotiation among representatives of those states on HOW to peacefully accomplish the divorce that both sides yearn for?

Any other ideas?

The problem is clear. The enemedia (MSM) is to blame for 90% of the hateful rhetoric in America today.

They are indeed to blame and probably more like 95 percent

In a divorce like this, which I am about ready to accept at this point, do all the leftists leave the states designated “right” and do all those on the right leave states designated “left”? It would be a heckuva migration. Maybe someone can do house swaps. California can’t all go to the evil leftists. Maybe just L.A. to the Golden Gate bridge and 30 or 40 miles inland. The rest would be ours. They can have Portland on up to the Canadian border and half of Washington state. They get to keep broke Illinois. NYC would become a state; the rest of NY would be ours. New England would have to work out who gets what. Nothing in the South goes to them. Nothing and we get to put our statues and monuments back where they belong. Anyone who doesn’t like it must leave.

One thing is clear for sure at this point; we ain’t ever going to kiss and make up. The left and right are forever at war now. There’s no “fixing it”.

Also; see tagline.

Except the shooter didn’t come from New York or San Francisco, but from downstate Illinois — a Democrat county to be sure, but not a typical leftwing community. If this guy is hard left and his neighbors voted for Trump, divisions in the country are a lot more complicated than if he came from some solidly liberal area.

That’s the way it is and will be for a long time.

I don’t see any possibility of a truce, either.

Those are some good ideas. As for the Midwest, I propose that certain leftist lake cities, like Chicago, Milwaukee, Toledo, Cleveland, Buffalo, etc be expelled from the Union. I am not sure what to do about Minnesota. Maybe make it a colony, can’t vote in federal elections.

That is correct, he came from Illinois, or was it Indiana? He definitely was hard left.

So the argument is out, “We can’t say that the words of others inspire action. We don’t want to go there.”

In other words, no more role models.

It used to be that we looked up to astronauts and athletes, saying that the hard work that they put into achieving their greatness should demonstrate why the child should put in hard work, too.

Now, we do not dare attribute people's behavior to the emulation of others, because the prominent "others" are spewing hate towards half of America.

Re: “And it needs to be beaten back. But the Republicans so far seem to be standing by idly.”

Except for a few tweets, Trump is also idle.

When the leader doesn’t fight back, the troops get demoralized and confused.

What is the status of someone like me in California? Do I just move to Arizona or Texas?

So the bottom line, it is clear that we have a divide, a major divide in America that does not seem surmountable. It does not seem reparable. It does not seem like it is possible or even likely to find any common ground, when many Americans think that their number one enemy is the other political party, which is a fact on the left. Scary times.

It's taken Rush 25 years to see the obvious. Well it's a start, next he will be talking about secession.

I've made five major moves in my lifetime each hundreds of miles apart. Moving is no big deal.

States can enter and leave the union, not cities. Don’t be preposterous.

It’s up to the Governors to act like the adults in the room to find a way out of this f-ed up union and an amicable separation process. FedGov™ won’t and can’t do it.
