Wall Township to reprint yearbook after pro-Trump photo controversy

WALL -- Wall Township High School will print corrected yearbooks for every student after a photo was intentionally manipulated to cover up a junior's Donald Trump T-shirt, according to the district.  Superintendent Cheryl Dyer announced the decision in a letter to parents on Thursday, a week after the district was first alerted to the altered photo. The new yearbook should arrive within two weeks, she wrote.  "I cannot allow the intentional change that was not based on dress code to be ignored," Dyer wrote. "I am the Chief School Administrator in this district, and I take responsibility for the actions of those who are employed here. Therefore, I have determined that a re-issuance of the yearbook is necessary." The district on Monday suspended yearbook advisor Susan Parsons indefinitely as it investigates why yearbook photos were changed. There's no evidence students played a role in the changes, Dyer said Monday.  While one student's photo was intentionally altered to remove a pro-Trump image, Dyer wrote that another photo that appeared to be censored was not. That photo was re-sized in the same manner as all other photos and Trump's name was no longer visible on a student's vest because of the re-sizing, Dyer wrote.  Dyer also told parents that she has not yet determined why a Trump quote selected to accompany a freshman class officer's photo did not appear in the yearbook.  "I do not know if this was an oversight, carelessness, or intentional,"

No, it will cost the taxpayers a bucket of money.

The school better make the teacher pay for the reprint and then fire him.

“I take responsibility for the actions of those who are employed here”

Translation : no responsibility will be asked from the culprit.

“The school better make the teacher pay for the reprint and then fire him.”

It’s not a “him,” it’s a “her,” Susan Parsons. According to the article, she’s a
“veteran educator,” which translates into RAT!

If they sold 800 yearbooks (that would be 200 per class)this escapade is costing them at least 56K

Make the so-called "teacher" that photoshopped the pictures pay the full cost of the reprinting.

Depends on the school district but with 23 years in she should be making around 68-70K a year.

Evidently, the same caliber of folks inhabit the yearbook staff all across the land and time.

In my case, they dropped one derogatory quote made by the assistant principal that I re-quoted and changed another well known phrase (a line from a popular song) to cut me down.

Stay classy, yearbook staff!

“No it will cost TAXPAYERS a lot of money.”

Too damn bad. Let them find the person or persons responsible and collect from them. IF it take a lifetime.

I’ve had it with this stuff.

And yeah, I live in NJ.

"I mean, he is our president," Berardo said. "He's the president of the United States. How is that offensive?"

From the linked article in post

Apparently, this 17 year kid is far and away smarter then a lot of the adults in this country...

#3: "That’s going to cost the school a bucket of money"

Probably cheaper than a lawsuit, lawyers, damages, and bad publicity.

I was thinking the correction device was going to be a rubber stamp for every student who wanted the photo changed. :-/

'Course, some future girlfriend might not want to view that T-shirt's message!

You don't know Wall Twp. NJ’s got lots of wealthy communities. Places like Colt's Neck, Deal, Bernardsville, Saddle River, Rumson, Spring Lake.
