Once Rosenstein said he would recuse himself from supervision of Mueller, and Mueller then met with Comey and granted him immunity, the trap was sprung.

Paul Ryan is certainly capable, “with a heavy heart”, to deliver the 25 GOP votes needed to impeach Trump once Mueller’s stack of lies is delivered to him. Senate conviction is a certainty, no men on earth fear the swamp being drained more than US Senators of both parties.

Ryan might do the deed ANYWAY if Trump fires Mueller and Rosenstein today, but if Trump’s surrogates tell a good story about the setup and the conspiracy, Ryan might not be able to hold his 25 traitor bloc together.

The cited 28 CFR reg. falls four square on Mueller vis-a-vis Comey. The reg. applies when an official conducting the criminal investigation has a personal or political relationship with a person whose interests would be affected by the outcome of the investigation or prosecution. Clearly, one of Mueller's friends Comey, the chief witness, falls into this category.

Seasions fell for the Democrat strategy for divestng elected Republican attorneys general of their authority— make a groundless allegation that some Republican somewhere has engaged in illegal conduct against a Democrat, and then claim that the Republican AG has to guard againt any appearance of bias by refusing himself.
