It's a good start.

Government and education should be held totally separate otherwise the government could indoctrinate your children into some awful, cult-like religion - like, say, Global Warming!

Sure, they should file the bill. At the state level we should be pushing to give parents an opt out from school-related property taxes. Even better, get rid of property taxes for homeowners completely. Raise the sales tax if needed, and let the state/local govt fund schools exclusively via business taxes and sales tax. Lots of people choose govt schools precisely because of their personal property taxes.

Education in this country was better BEFORE the DoE public schools existed.

Fixed it. ;)

Nonsense !

The first public school was in the mid 17th century-—— how many great schools are you talking about?

Do you not understand the difference between locally controlled schools and federal imposition in their operation?

My response was to Post #69 which referred to all public schools.

Warehousing children has always been a monstrous practice. It’s not about education and never has been.

Agree. Even pre-1979 public schools were much better than anything SINCE this abomination was formed.

The downhill slide began in the ‘60’s, after the O’Hare ruling, but took a swift, downhill pace, since DOE/1979.

I doubt that there was much warehousing going on in 1650.
