Two weeks ago, in the wake of the Manchester bombing, I mistweeted and it cost me.
Everyone knows what I said and I’m not going to repeat it here.
The wording was horrible. Loaded with unintended meaning. Quickly deleted, amended to make clear, and apologised for live on TV and radio.
I have no excuses. And I take full accountability — disasters, triumphs, I must treat them just the same.
In truth, I woke up to the news of the terror attack in Manchester on our young girls and I saw red. As a mum, I felt fear. And I raged.
And now I am raging again. And now, more than ever, I stand by what I MEANT those words to say. This. Cannot. Go. On.
Whatever we are doing now is clearly not working. We need a radical rethink.

Today Theresa May stood outside Downing Street and articulated what everyone feels today. Enough is enough. We can’t go on this way.
What she DIDN’T offer was much concrete to change things on the home-front beyond a crackdown on Islamic extremism, tougher sentences and another assault on the social media giants’ role in allowing terrorists the means of communication and propaganda.
But I’m sorry, Prime Minister, neither of the last two things is going to make much difference at all and the first will only work if you follow through with real, tough action.

They count on the average uninformed American not to know that that would be Islam. It’s just extremists.

So I have to go into hospital to have them relocated. I never saw this, I am not tied into the media in the sense that I don’t watch television or read papers, so if I understand correctly, she is some kind of conservative pundit who got dumped from her job for using the phrase “final solution”.
My thoughts on this: The actual bloodshed on the part of Islam for the last 40 years at least is far, far worse than any violation of political correctness by some poorly known (to me) pundit. She shouldn’t have used the phrase if she wanted to keep her job, since everyone knows it is a third rail no matter how used, but that use of it is a spit in the ocean of violence and mayhem on the part of Islam.
Then why isn't she 50 points ahead?
Every society must completely outlaw not only all jihad oriented groups but all connection with and/or support for such groups. Then, everyone who qualifies for these “jihad watch lists” must be banned and forcibly removed forever, by whatever means necessary. To subscribe to ISIS etc. views in any way is to be part of a criminal murderous conspiracy of terrorists, even if one has not yet “acted” upon those beliefs. Round them up, either imprison or expel them, strip them of citizenship where necessary, and maybe there can be an island “colony” somewhere for terrorist nutjobs (the ones we can’t execute for one reason or another) where they can live out their sorry worthless lives far from civilized humans. Patrol the waters with enough of a naval flotilla that they can never leave, it’s a one-way ticket to the island of jihad.
It was the wrong phrase, of course, because of the acquired connotations with the Holocaust.... but she put together two ordinary English words simply trying to give the same sense as Theresa May’s “enough is enough!”
The over-reaction to the Katie Hopkins tweet was ofc fueled by leftist rage against a forthright conservative thinker. It should have been a simple matter for an apology “oops, I used two ordinary English words together, but didn’t think of what that phrase has come to connote.” She should not be made to pay any continuous penalty beyond an initial apology. The attacks on her are ridiculous and immoral.
For conservative men of a certain age, Katie Hopkins is hawt.
I feel much the same way as you do, but in her role, she has to consider the meaning and didn’t, and that is reality.
Giving the Left a weapon that may be used against you, no matter how insignificant, is always unwise.
Sure, they will manufacture weapons out of thin air and lies anyway, but one has to be wary of handing weapons to them on a platter.
