President Trump on Tuesday reiterated his call for the Senate to end the legislative filibuster so he could pass his tax reform and healthcare initiatives.
"The U.S. Senate should switch to 51 votes, immediately, and get Healthcare and TAX CUTS approved, fast and easy. Dems would do it, no doubt!" Trump tweeted.
Trump has previously come out in favor of ending the 60-vote threshold to stop debate on a piece of legislation. The 60-vote threshold usually requires a measure of bipartisanship because it's rare that one party holds 60 seats in the upper chamber.
However, Senate Democrats are using that legislative filibuster in order to block most of Trump's agenda. Republicans only hold 52 seats in the Senate, and there are rarely eight Democrats willing to jump across the aisle to vote on a bill that Trump is backing.

I don’t know whether Trump is right or wrong on this..I do know that anything that would adjust power to the Dems in the future will not end well for us.
As far as putting the new health care bill and/or tax bill the damn government has failed. And will continue to fail. Government is made up of fools and are totally useless to the American people.
The Dems are done for at least the next two election cycles.
They passed ObamaCare with zero Republican votes and many other initiatives.

I do not care if we do. The current system is broken beyond repair. Allowing 40 senators to hold everything hostage is just stupid. Currently elections are meaningless because of this mess.
This may be his way of putting the blame of not getting tax relief through on the Senate where it belongs. There’s 0 chance they will go nuclear on this. Even if they did he could not get the 51 votes.

When the dems get back into power again they will unleash the full power of the government, media, violent leftists, Muslim hoards you name it on America. Just look at how they are acting now. Trump obviously interrupted their takeover of America. They will not let this happen again. It will be civil war. The least of our worries will be filibuster rule. They will not play by any rules.

That’s simply not true. I’m disappointed in the Republicans too, but they are nowhere nearly as bad as the half-crazed with Trump hatred Democrats. For one thing, although the press has largely ignored it, Congress has already passed several dozen conservative bills that Trump has signed. Most have to do with deregulation to stimulate our economy and cut back on government power, including a bill that has already gone a long way towards saving the coal industry.
As Trump has noted many times, they are at least working on health care and tax reform (and yes, we will eventually get tax cuts under the Republicans, while we’d get nothing under the Dems, and the Republican health care plans at least aren’t the single-payer system that the Dems will try to enact). The Dems on the other hand have already made it clear that they will oppose Trump at every turn, and the base has been very vocal about putting up primary challenges to anyone working with Trump. Trump will get nothing he wants if the Dems take control. Things won’t just be slow like under the Republicans; there would be total gridlock for the rest of his term (and a lot of voters will blame Trump for not getting anything accomplished).
Lastly, there is a real possibility these crazies on the left will seriously push for impeachment if the Dems get control of the Congress. In other words, letting the Dems win will essentially destroy Trump’s presidency. He will hardly be able to function in the environment they will create.
Normally, I don’t mind seeing conservatives not vote Republican all that much. But this time around, it looks to me like a direct vote against Donald Trump.
60 Vote is arbitrary and capricious.
50 Vote Republican. 60 Vote Democrat.
60 Vote supporters are admitted losers.
60 Vote destroys Republican vote as Democrats achieve it far more often.
60 Vote is illegal and UnConstitutional!
The Republican Congress is going to find out what the 2006 Republican Congress found out and it will be unfortunate for the country but they promised to do things and now when they have the power to actually do something they cower in fear and tell us why nothing is possible anymore.
Trump needs to start putting out feelers for primary fights with all the Republicans in the senate now. Not that he will push them but begin the process of setting up a bruising primary fight for these wussbags. That will get their attention.

Yes they are. Worse even. The act in front of the TX cameras like they support Trump but off camera they are part of the movement to impeach him. There is yuge Republican disloyalty at work.
