100% Tax on Tobacco
Dubai Post ^ | Monday, May 29, 2017

Posted on 05/29/2017 7:09:42 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The UAE’s Ministry of Finance has announced that it will start implement a selective tax on goods that affect health; this will come into effect from the last quarter of 2017.

A 100% tax will be imposed on tobacco, while aerated drinks will be hit by a 50% tax.

Several countries and organisations are working hard to fight smoking. The latest effort comes from Britain, which has decided to change the colour of cigarette packs to greenish brown, which experts called ‘the ugliest colour in the world’, according to the BBC. This aims to deter smokers from picking it up.

What’s worse than a jihadist in the UAE? A jihadist that smokes.

They are the vanguard for New York, Kalifornia, and other fringe lunatic liberal states. The new Socialist President has begun his Obamaesque fundamental transformation of France.
Wait till you see what entitlements he comes up with and what he does to personal taxes.
Keith Richards may even flee France and move to Monaco.

“Great news for the black market!”

That’s alright. Thanks for the tip, but you can head off to the UAE and sell black market smokes.

I’ve got a few packs of OD green Lucky Strikes and several Camel packs in my Dad’s stuff brought back from WWII.
He was a lifetime smoker. Got his start with four free cigarettes in each K ration. It finally killed him in 1966 at age 47.

Those 4 cigarettes included in the rations were in an ugly brownish-green box. It didn’t stop me from smoking them.

Across the state and federal taxes, the US taxes Cigarettes MORE than 100%. Far more in many cases (Like NYC).

And let me tell you, it has _nothing_ to do with health or safety. The government found an addictive product and simply jumped on it and it’s addicts to secure revenue. In other words, Theft.

It was never about health or public safety. If it was, there would be such thing as cigarettes. It’s about taking money from addicts with such little resistance that the rest of the non-addicts will applaud you for it and ask you to take more.

At the root of every single problem in the world is GOVERNMENT.
