Opposition from some members of Minnesota’s immigrant and refugee communities is slowing the momentum of a bill that would impose stiff penalties for parents involved in cases of female genital mutilation.
Since the bill’s near-unanimous passage in the Minnesota House this week, some longtime critics of the ritual have met with senators, lobbied the governor’s office and handed out fliers — all to raise alarm about the legislation.
The Council for Minnesotans of African Heritage, a nonprofit called Isuroon and other groups argue that the legislation carries overly harsh punishment and unintended consequences, including the possibility that newcomers from countries where genital cutting is widespread would not seek medical care and other services for their children. They call for a less punitive approach focused on educating parents.
Now, the author of the Senate version is voicing second thoughts about approving the legislation yet this session, though Senate GOP leadership have not committed to a course of action. “We all agree this practice is absolutely horrible, and something needs to be done,” said the author, Sen. Karin Housley. “How can we empower communities to address this practice from within rather than having Big Brother come down and say, ‘This is wrong?’ ”

Mohammed's ideology isn't just some false religion that became thoroughly integrated with the society in which it grew up. Mohammed's ideology, from its very beginning, went far beyond addressing the nature of the Deity and Man's relationship to the Deity.
For the islamics, islam IS religion, IS government, IS the framework in which business is done, IS interpersonal relationships, IS the structure of family life. And in all of these things, islam is totalitarian, is violent, is brutal, and is sexually perverted.
Islam didn't "become integral with the societies it infests". Where it is currently dominant, it overthrew the societies that existed before it. Where it is not currently dominant, it seeks to overthrow and destroy the societies currently existing there. Islam doesn't want to "integrate with" America (or any other place). Islam wants to replace America.
The pejorative term "cult", which has been casually tossed around in America since the 1970s, and which has become largely meaningless from overuse, does not even begin to express the true horror of mohammedanism. The Moonies are a "cult". They're the original "cult", IIRC. Mohammedanism is a lethal threat to us personally, and an existential threat to our society.
It is a cult. It meets the definition, and any accurate negative term used to describe it is important to use. It’s not just okay to use, it’s important to use.
Yes, a cult has taken over those societies and seeks to take over more.
Once folks grasp it’s a cult, our girls who seem to swoon over Middle Eastern men can be spared the devastation of mingling with Islamic adherents.
Once Islam is seen as a cult, folks will quit trying to say how peaceful it is, how wholesome it is, and how everyone who opposes it is xenophobic or some such rot.
It’s a death cult.
It’s not simply another acceptable lifestyle, as the moral relativists would want us to say.
As for the rest: You're seriously underestimating the threatening dangers of he mohammedan ideology. It's far more of a lethal threat than German national socialism, Japanese imperialism, or Soviet communism. However, it has much more in common with them, than it has with the Moonies.
I'm objecting to the use of the term "cult" to describe mohammedanism for two reasons.
1) In actual practice, the term is so fuzzy as to be nearly meaningless.
2) The term seriously UNDERSTATES the dangers posed by mohammedanism.

I don’t think a protestant president is a threat to our nation. He would be inside the “normal” societal umbrella of normalcy. We have seen what a president who was an Islamic adherent was like. This representative of the Islamic cult, tried to do serious harm to our nation.

Nor a Catholic one, even if some folks thing the Catholic is a "cult" member. A communist president IS a threat to our nation. A national socialist president IS a threat to our nation. A mohammedan president IS a threat to our nation. As you note, 0bama exemplifies this threat. The threat posed by an Islamic, like the threat posed by a Nazi or a communist, does not come from how he wishes to pray (or not pray) to the Deity (if such even exists). It comes from the islamic's desire, like that of the Nazi or the commie, to replace ALL aspects of society with the brutal, perverted dictates of his totalitarian ideology. The mohammedan is far more dedicated to his ideology (and therefore to destroying and replacing our nation) than the Nazi or commie would ever be.

We are going to disagree on the issue of the cult label for Islam.
It is backed by the dictionary, and historic events and practices.
