Something to be factored in here is the fact that Fox ratings have taken a nose dive. Some of these companies might have been planning to reposition their advertising dollars in any case.

USAA’s reply to my complaint.

Dear Mr. Carson,

Thank you for your message and the opportunity to address your concerns.

Our decision to stop advertising on the Hannity TV show was not the result of outside pressure.

It is our policy to not advertise on any opinion programming, whether it is associated with politics, religion, race, biases regarding gender or otherwise. There was an error which led to our ads running during Hannity, and as soon as that was discovered, the error was corrected.

Thank you for taking the time to send your email, as we appreciate your feedback. Have a pleasant afternoon, Mr. Carson, and thank you for your membership with USAA.
Thank you,
Victoria Evans
USAA

I wonder how much USAA spends on advertising?

Maybe they should tell us.

Then they could explain the gross margin return on investment they get for that advertising.

I sent them a message this afternoon and most definitely I’ll get the same boilerplate form response. I hope they are taking notice of the volume of complaints and not blowing us off.

As much as I would hate to leave USAA, I will take our policies to the next best provider. Suggestions for Georgia-house and cars?

I immediately called USAA to file a complaint. The agent was very friendly and admitted she had received multiple complaints today about pulling the advertising from Sean Hannity. She gave me the company line that this was not a response to left wing pressure, but a mistake that was belatedly being corrected because company policy had been all along not to advertise on any show that covered sensitive topics. I told her USAA must think their members are fools if they expect us to believe that. She did take down my complaint and I urged USAA to restore advertising to Sean. I also told her that Sean had done enormous work for veterans, active duty, and their families for years and that USAA’s action reflected a callous indifference to all of us. I have been a satisfied USAA member for 45 years. I can’t say how this disappoints and enrages me that they caved to the same left I spent a life time fighting. If this is what civilian leadership of USAA means, its time to change back to retired military.

Maybe we should start using this tactic in spades.

24-years USAA member. No plans to quit them over this. I’d be fine if they dropped all advertising, it’s a waste of money.
