The suicide bomber who killed 22 people in a terror attack in Manchester allegedly walked straight into the arena's foyer 'unchecked' before detonating his device.
The unnamed male terrorist detonated a homemade bomb inside the foyer of the arena following an Ariana Grande concert last night, at the point where security experts say visitors are most vulnerable.
Today concert goers slammed the 'lax' security at the arena, and accused security of being 'more interested in whether we were carrying bottles of water' than checking for weapons.
However, The Daily Beast reports a security guard may have actually stopped the attacker from entering the main arena - potentially saving hundreds of lives.
The news website reports that a senior official at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security revealed that officials believe a was a person who was trying to get into the concert area - and that he was stopped by a security guard.
Despite this the man managed to set off the suspected nail bomb in the foyer, a 'security soft spot,' as parents lingered while they waited to pick up their children
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the bomb attack, Greater Manchester Police said this morning.
