Calexit Backers Begin New California Secession Ballot Bid
U.S. News & World Report ^ | May 19, 2017

Supporters of making California an independent nation are beginning their second longshot attempt to recruit voters by submitting a new proposed ballot measure.

The measure being submitted to state officials Friday by the separatist California Freedom Coalition takes a more gradual approach than one withdrawn by an earlier group last month.

It would have the governor negotiate with the federal government to give California more autonomy as what supporters call a "nation within a nation." Or the talks could eventually lead to full independence.

Let the coastal counties’ from L.A. to Marin split off and form their own nation. Throw in Alameda as a bonus.

If they do not want to be part of the USA, cut them off from federal funds first.

In this scenario, do the taxes that Californians now pay to DC then go to Sacramento instead?

Just think...They could make Hollywood their “nation’s capitol”...

Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin could run against each other for president...

Brad Pitt could be the ecology czar...

The possibilities are endless......

What about the water from other states that feeds parched California?

There are or were major battles between the surrounding states and CA for water that flows down the Colorado River. Plus, the hydro power plant the Hover Dam (in Nevada) powers LA.

All of those rich liberal types and socialists will have to build the once hated power plants in order to charge their electric cars.

And remove CA from the national elections and Democrats will lose. The so called extra 2 million that Hillary won in the last election came from CA.

I say good riddance.

What about the water from other states that feeds parched California?

So lets see here. Three states border CA. OR,NV and AZ. As far as I know no water flows into CA form AZ. So here is the map of major rivers in the West.

Where are these new damns going to be built to keep water out of CA? LOL!

The 9th biggest economy in the world and the largest agricultural region in North America is not going to starve.

The Democrat Party establishment, knowing that losing California means the party’s over, will put the kibosh on CalExit.

It was reported that on Tuesday evening Judge Ferris Bueler appointed by President George HW Bush ruled the Calexit gambit unconstitutional and issued an injunction barring all future efforts in that regard

Since the injunction was issued juris deio, it can’t be appealed said law professor Robert W Davis of the Harvard School of Law

The 9th biggest economy in the world and the largest agricultural region in North America is not going to starve.

But look what has happened to Venezuela, which is starving despite its vast oil reserves, Zimbabwe, once the breadbasket of southern Africa, or Cuba, where sugar and bananas, once produced in huge quantities, are rationed. This could happen in California if the mindset that currently dominates Sacramento is allowed to run unchecked.

I would vote for this only if they would have no representation in Congress and couldn’t vote for president. I don’t want them to be independent AND have a say so in our national affairs. That’s having the cake and eating it too. It would be like Scotland in the UK.
