FWIW, Sam, we buy new and drive til they drop. Usually around 10 years and over 200,000 miles. We buy base trim models that have fewer things to go wrong and take excellent care of them. We also don’t drive like loonies. Never had a hassle. :-)
I don’t think I could go with base trim. I like my bells and whistles too much!
Sam, I have such a hard time finding a dang vehicle with decent head and leg room, I’m happy with the stripper. We just bought our first Subaru. Got the base trim on the model, though we were actually tempted to upgrade this time, because all the higher trim levels came with a bloody moonroof. Subaru could’ve made a lot more money off us if it hadn’t been for that dang moonroof.
I know some women who married “down”. Of the 10 or so I personally know of, I can think of only one that has lasted. (Well I think it has! They moved out of my area so I don’t really know its current state.)
Did you go with the true coat?
I received a letter this week from my credit union that my 3 year car loan for a 2003 Honda Accord LX (4cyl) is paid OFF.
I will keep driving the car and pocket the $210/month it was costing me. Pay for future car repair. I only need rear brakes and front tires replaced this year as anything else I can think off has been fixed. Total of less then $400
So know new car for me for now.
