One note of caution: Trump often talks about firing people when things go south and does not follow through on it. So it's possible these conversations are his way of venting, and seeking reassurance.
And it all could take a while: Trump heads out on his first international trip at the end of the week. Also, there's an internal argument for minimizing drama by cutting people out of the information flow rather than firing them....

Again, Jones (who Trump calls directly), Stone (40-year confidant with other contacts at the WH) and Cernovich (who talks with Don Jr) all have good sources. Just how the shake up will go (and even that he will follow through with it) in doubt, but no question as to Spicer, Priebus, McMaster, etc., all being considered for reassignment out of critical roles.

Trump’s cabinet picks, by and large, are solid. He needs to let them get the subcabinet and other political appointees in place and start to manage the Leviathan. Trump can’t run the government with tweets. And the WH staff can’t run the government. Right now, the administration is virtually unstaffed.
