One GOP lawmaker’s plan to save money: Turning non-English-speaking kids over to ICE
MSN Washington Post ^ | May 11, 2017

Republican Rep. Mike Ritze told CBS affiliate KWTV that he has another proposal in mind: rounding up the state’s 82,000 non-English-speaking students and handing them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Identify them and then turn them over to ICE to see if they truly are citizens, and do we really have to educate noncitizens?” Ritze asked.

... and with that, more illegals will self-deport or at least leave OK.

But court rulings need to be changed concerning educating illegals?

BTTT
I like this man!

English only is also my idea.

Total English immersion in all public schools.

Love it or leave it, America that is.

This dual language crap stops immediately.

In CA, some schools have to endure up tp 68 separate foreign languages!

The insanity must end!!

I suggest every government vehicle riding around should be plastered with ICE and DHS markings, Think of all the self-deportations!!

Wow. They actually have a “Detainee Locator” tab on the ICE website.

Educate illegals until ICE gets to them. That is following the Court rulings, isn’t it?

I met a Hispanic plumber from California. Originally, his family was from Central America. They are all citizens. He dropped out of school at 16 because, (Approximately) “I spoke almost no English. I was born here and had attended California schools and any time I had to speak with anybody in the administration I needed an interpreter. The schools actively discouraged us from learning English. Finally, I left and apprenticed myself to a Cuban born plumber. Each thing I said he’d teach me to say it in English and would not respond until I said it properly. If not for him I’d be living in a Hispanic ghetto. I think that’s what California wants; little enclaves of different ghettos.”

I think the idea is to in some fashion do the obvious of bringing ICE to them.

“Round them up”??

I see this going REAL well on TV . . .

Thousands of crying children being rounded up (maybe the crew that kidnapped Elian Gonzanles is still around) and put unto croweded buses (or may cattle cars?) and being herded into detainment facilities until they can prove their immigration status. Yep - the MSM would LOVE this!

What kind of STUPID does the GOP need to be? Let’s just give the MSM MORE reason to claim we are xenophobic, racist, uncaring vermin!

Why not just ask them (or their parents) for their documents first? Do we really need to detain children just because they don’t speak english? It does take a day or two in a new country to be able to do so.

There are humane ways of enforcing the law. “Rounding up” children is not one of them.

At a former job, I used to work long hours.

The night janitor would come in and talk to me. He was Columbian, IIRC. He wanted to practice his English - he said that with better English, he could move up in the company, become a supervisor, get his own crew, make himself better.

The rest of the crew were from Haiti and they would make fun of him when he wasn't around - I speak enough French to pick up on a little of what they were saying. They were a surly bunch, and were only motivated when they thought someone might be looking.

So how did it end? Columbian moved up and out, in about a year or so. Haitians were all still there, dumping the garbage, when I moved to a different building.

That's the next step.

Do we really need to detain children just because they don’t speak english?

No, but we do need to "detain" adults until they can prove they are here legally.

No, but "rounding up" the adults is.

No, the idea of Socialized XYZ needs be changed.

This would most likely be a non-issue if it were returned to the service-model it truly is: Payment upon service rendered; not by the ‘public’, nor the taxpayer, but by the USER.

Much easier for everyone to say, “Well, its PUBLICLY funded, so EVERYONE....”.

Add in debarring\removing from the bench those judges whom promote Socialism and think ‘public education’ is more equal than ILLEGAL alien (whom shouldn’t BE here, nor in the U.S. schools...w/out paying).

No we do not really have to educate non-citizens.

Turning them over to ICE is a great idea!!! Let ICE sort them out.

Did it ever occur to you that there are a myriad of ways to ‘round up’ these children, and not all of them lend themselves to bad TV?

And while I’m at it, you really think not rounding them up will keep the MSM from claiming we are xenophobic, racist, uncaring vermin?

Where have you been the last couple of decades?

No, but "rounding up" the adults is.

Did you miss the part where the idiot said that ICE should round up and hand kids over to ICE based on their knowledge of English?

And even so - how is "Rounding up" adults, a great many of which are likely in the US legally going to combat illegals? Or are we going to enforce a "papers please" mentality where everyone needs to carry some proof of nationality with them at all times. After all, I might speak perfect english and still be in the country illegally.

You ought o come over to Little Tijuana sometime, I guarantee you will change your mind within 48 hours, so much so that you will probably start rounding up the little thugs yourself.

Where have you been the last couple of decades?

watching the GOP propose one stupid action after another and basically imploding whenever they even get a scent of power.

Did it ever occur to you that there are a myriad of ways to ‘round up’ these children, and not all of them lend themselves to bad TV?

So how do you THINK the MSM will portray the idea - "Round up and hand over" - that we want to send them to the auditorium with cake and ice cream?

This is just one of many idiotic things that the GOP publically announces that reinforce the MSM narrative. Why do we insist upon feeding it?

BTW - how often are we going to round these kids up? Every year or so just to be sure? Are we going to force people to carry their papers at all times? Why stop with language - after all, I can speak perfect english and still be in the US illegally.

How many citizens have "proof" that they truely are citizens (i.e. can produce a birth certificate or other document in a timely manner)? Mine was "lost" for many years. I didn't know that until it came time to get a Passport. It was never required.

Chiang Mai, Thailand. The young folks working at Burger King spoke terrible English despite half their customers being farangs-english speaking. It’s their country. It takes a worried man to sing a worried song.,
