Venezuela Is Starving
Wall Street Journal ^ | May 5, 2017

Once Latin America’s richest country, Venezuela can no longer feed its people, hobbled by the nationalization of farms as well as price and currency controls

YARE, Venezuela— Jean Pierre Planchart, a year old, has the drawn face of an old man and a cry that is little more than a whimper. His ribs show through his skin. He weighs just 11 pounds

Without the remittances from the US, Mexico would be in the same situation.

What say Sean Penn, Naomi Campbell, Michael Moore

They're waiting for a cue from that intellectual giant, Danny Glover.

The problem is capitalists exploiting the people. If they had true socialism in Venezuela, everyone would have everything they want.

The US food stamp program was designed by people who understood that the French and Russian revolutions (and the following massacres) were brought on by starving people. Many of our poor people are obese and diabetic; can’t even lob a Molotov cocktail...

You’re right; Mexico is completely dependent on them to keep the peace.

Sadly, this starvation in Venezuela is the only way they’ll overthrow the communists. They have a whole civilian network designed to support the communists, so I guess they’ll have to kill them first.

Pope Francis was pushing “dialogue” in Venezuela for many months before Dictator Maduro’s Supreme Court moved in to annul the opposition controlled National Assembly.

It only helped Maduro gain time to stay in power and for people to suffer from lack of food and medicine.

Blogger Daniel Duquenal in Venezuela described the Pope’s mediation efforts as a “Schmuckalogue”.

Yep, in a communist state, the ruling elites eat well. Look at fat boy in North Korea. It doesn't look like he misses any meals.

Communism has always been about the enrichment of the few at the expense of the many. And Communists have been very good with the propaganda blaming free societies for exactly what they are overtly guilty of.

When I visited South Korea recently, I was told about a TV show that features defectors from North Korea. In one instance, a defector wanted to know if he was allowed to buy an apartment in Seoul. Sure, why not? So he paid cash for this $2 million apartment. Obviously, he had done very well for himself in Pyongyang. That, of course, raises the question--if someone who enriched himself grandly through his connections to the Communist government is willing to risk his life to escape, what is life like there for the elites? We already know it is miserable for the regular people.

Nicolás Maduro and most of his ruling elite seem to be on the portly side.

“What say Sean Penn, Naomi Campbell, Michael Moore”

The usual leftist line is that they need even more socialism, even more vigorously applied. It is all of those all of those stubborn people who are resisting progress who are causing the problems. Just have more censorship and more secret police luquidating “enemies of the people,” and finally the real potential of communism will be realized. Bread will rain from the sky and the streets will be paved with gold. It is just that right now, unbelievers are getting in the way of paradise.

Communism is a cult.

Here is a case for arming the people.

From a liberal/statist viewpoint it's exactly the opposite. An armed populace might rise up and overthrow the government given just how insane the government is, and to a liberal overthrowing a totalitarian regime is the worst possible thing that can happen. The liberal answer is MORE restrictive control of the populace. So what if a few million starve? The liberal idea of heaven on earth is an absolute totalitarian regime with them in absolute control - ruling in the ruins. North Korea is one such liberal paradise.
