1,665 Pages: GOP Spending Bill Longer Than Obama’s Stimulus

(CNSNews.com) - The new federal spending bill proposed in the Republican-controlled Congress to fund the government through the end of September--which is now posted on the House Rules Committee website--is 1,665 pages long and includes an average of approximately 210 words per page.

That makes this bill approximately 350,000 words long—or about twice as long as the stimulus law (the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act”) that President Barack Obama signed less than a month after his inauguration in 2009.

As CNSNews.com reported in 2009, the House Appropriations Committee, in the then-Democrat-controlled Congress, released Obama’s stimulus bill in two PDFs less than 24 hours before the House was going to vote on it. One PDF was 575 pages long and the other was 496 pages long, making the entire stimulus when published in that form 1,071 pages.

Voting against this in a general election is cutting off your nose to spite your face. The moronic voters refuse to vote against the losers in the primary.

I all Trump does is have Spicer say this belongs to obama, then that is an issue.

Perhaps Trump does not want to appear rattled or seething...I imagine he is.

Exactly........let the Demorats think they have cause to celebrate this..they have no clue what’s coming. Trump did the right think by keeping the government going....and ONLY til September (important to remember it stops then)......now they have to pass his Tax plan and once done he’s going to re-visit them with his wall etc. and Government spending ...LOLOLOLOL

The man knows what he’s doing.....this is very exciting!....
...

Since these Pubbies turds passed this continued funding resolution, how will trump get these traitors and enemies of the people to pass his budget?

I truly want to have an intelligent discussion on this.

Exactly, it gets harder to deal as mid-terms approach. Then there is the possibility of losing GOP seats in November. (Conservative voter disenchantment won’t help that).

What a bunch of crap.

Some talking head on F&F spinning this wildly... Trump is signing this because he doesn’t want to be distracted from tax reform and Obamacare...

Give me a break.

I’ve been wildly pro-Trump since day one. This is the first time I’m utterly, completely disappointed in him. He’s really going to allow funding for everything the RATS hold near and dear (including their deepest love... baby killing) while accepting no funding for the wall... the issue that got him elected. Absolutely unacceptable. And all of this to ... what .. keep the government running? THAT’S supposed to make us feel better about this?

He won’t! That’s the problem. These people have ZERO integrity. They are our enemies (and I’m not talking about the RATS, though they’re our enemies, too). You cannot trust them at all, for a moment, to do anything they say they’re going to do, so the only course of action is to give them nothing and fight them. Unfortunately, Trump has, for some reason, shown himself to be a charter member of the Paul Ryan fan club and actually seems to trust these POS politicians to do what they say down the road. That’s just foolish, and just I can’t believe Trump is that foolish.

Part of the reason is since it is not at this point trying to alter greatly the current spending, just fund things kinda as is thru September, it must deal with all the specific separate points of spending that have been added since 2009.

Somehow, there are people on this forum who live under the false impression that Trump is a spending cutter. He is not and never was.

All through the campaign, his expressed desire was to solve the deficit through economic growth, not cutting spending. Now economic growth is in every way a good thing, but we would have to have 7-8 percent growth for two full Trump terms to even get within shooting distance of eliminating the current deficit, much less the accumulated debt.

And before you jump in: I voted for Trump, because the alternative was much worse. This did not mean that I fooled myself about Trump being reliably conservative.

Well FRiend, if all President Trump did was fight small battles over the interim Omnibus 8 years running what could he possibly get done in his agenda?

The answer we’re looking for here is zero.

This is a short term retreat seeking long term wins.
Perspective people, perspective.

President Trump has already shown his hand on his intentions with the budget proposals brought to light.

He is not going to be business as usual. That’s not him. But he can’t take on every battle all at once or he risks losing everything and accomplishing nothing.

Why some folks can’t figure that out here is beyond me. They think the Executive can summon the UniParty and in one action have them come to heel. They have no intention of coming to heel. They intend to make President Trump answer to their call, business as usual.

President Trump had to let them win a hand but he’s looking to win the poker game and go all-in later at a time of his choosing.

September will be a battle royale like nothing we’ve seen in our lifetime. President Trump is going to make it clear who is with him and who’s against him. If you pay attention, you’ll notice it’s Republicans trying to undermine his agenda at every turn.

One man, one fight at the time of his bidding. Stay with it.

Please do go into detail FRiend and show me why you think I’m delusional.

How does President Trump fight both the UniParty, both the Republicans and Democrats who feed at the trough of the Omnibus for almost a decade?

How does he win on his agenda by shutting down the government now? What will he accomplish?

He has to take a step back and once again allow the American people to see the establishment corruption for what it is and hold his fire. Otherwise he’ll never get the ObamaCare repeal and replace or any tax reform passed.

Would that make you happy to see the President’s agenda fail right here in the spring after 100 days?

Now who’s delusional?

Now who’s delusional?

You are. Most folks are going to see this (signing the CR) in one of two ways.
Trunk is weak, he caved to the Democrats.
Or Trunk is a con man, he broke almost all of his campaign promises.

Once either realization settles in Trump support is going to evaporate. His power the base of supporters that got him elected. Should he lose a sizeable portion of that base he is finished and the uniparty will run over him at will. Plus 2018 will be a GOP bloodbath as the base takes its' revenge on the GOP.

What Trump needs to do is veto this rat CR bill and let Congress over ride his veto. I suspect enough Rs will side with the Ds to do that. It's a loss for him but it exposes the lying worthless Rs that are really Ds and we can try to vote them out in 2018. Plus Trump will be seen as fighting for his agenda to MAGA. His popularity with he base will go up. Yeah Trump will lose the funding battle but he lives to fight another day. If he signs the CR the Trump presidency is effectively over.

Like it or not the battle is now, we only get weaker by giving the rats an uncontested victory. We elected Trump to fight the establishment not give in to them. Maybe he won't win. I would not hold that against him but to give in without even trying? Unacceptable.

Being sold out doesn’t feel too good.

Listening to democrats celebrate victory makes me want to vomit.

We have a one party system apparently and it is not republican.

Sounds like you didn’t read my post at all. If all of Ryan’s crap bills are going to pass with his approval, sounds more like Ryan is President. Anything Democrats come out in favor of and claim it was “bipartisan,” is a loss for us.

You call me delusional and then go on to elaborate on your grand analysis that Trump will lose all his support. He’s not up for election: not today, not tomorrow and not in September.

A veto is plain dumb. You failed to say what that gains in the President’s agenda. Probably because you’re so angry that not everything is going you way today you can’t see tomorrow.

You completely failed to address the two agenda items upcoming: ridding us of the failing and crippling ObamaCare and tax reform. The latter can not be accomplished of any substance without the former.

But that’s because you are focused on the next 24 hours. You don’t have an eye for strategy but that’s okay.

The proof is in the pudding. Anyway who tells you (or repeats) that this temporary short term funding plan is the end of the Trump Administration is only aiding and abetting the UniParty out to destroy the President, his Administration and the stated agenda.

Come on, snap out of it!
